These villas are very nicely kept (and very new) and it looks as shown on the pictures, we enjoyed the nice kitchen for cooking and had all our breakfasts on the terrace, which is under a porch roof so we could sit there even when the rain was pouring down.
The beach is so beautiful and literally only steps away, we especially enjoyed the snorkeling and the peace and quiet since we had the beach to ourselves most of the time.
The umu dinner with Fred and Lovie, is a must, we really enjoyed learning about the traditional cooking and tasting this lovely food - served right at the villa!
We hope to come back some time.

John and Rachel have done a terrific job with these villa's, they are beautifully appointed with everything you would want, although we did find we lounged on the bed quite alot because we didnt find the sofa that comfy.
The villas feel private and this is in part due to the gorgeous gardens. There are two fruit and vege stalls literally within a few mInutes walk from the front door.
Titikaveka is a great location if you are considering areas on Rarotonga, nice beach, wide lagoon for snorkling and kayaking, all this within easy reach of restaurants and cafes.
We noticed traffic noise as our villa was close to the road, but this may be typical of much of the accommodation on the island.
I cant speak highly enough of John and Rachel from their efficiency with bookings, their informative communication, hospitality and going the extra mile to help ou when we had hassles with transporting luggage.

What a great place to be!!!
Rachel and John are terrific hosts. The villas are beautifully presented in a lovely setting.
Our group of seven had ten days of relaxation and were grateful for the suggestions as to the restaurants and activities that we should consider. The breakfast in the gazebo and the delicious home baking was an added bonus. We are pleased to promote Makyla Palms to our friends.

Not only is Makayla Palms in a great location, John and Rachel are excellent hosts who provide many extras which include:
* beautiful gardens and use of ripe fruit (passionfruit -yum) and fresh herbs
* very well-equipped and spotlessly clean villas
* delicious home baking
* a specially prepared breakfast
* local knowledge and advice
* a wide range of equipment for beach use
* the booking of outings
* transport to the shopping area and the delivery of groceries to the villas while we enjoyed lunch at a local cafe
* the provision of books games DVDs and CDs

This was my second visit to Makayla Palms and I am sure it will not be the last. This is a special place to stay.

Just returned from the most wonderful place to stay. Rachel and John are the most wonderful hosts you could imagine and their local knowledge of restaurants and activities is superb . We stayed for nine nights in one of their Villas and it was everything you could imagine, they are perfectly clean and spotless, the kitchen is equipped with everything you could ever want. The grounds are immaculate which makes for a very relaxing stay. The beach is only a stone throw away and is very clean and quite with some of the best snorkelling and swimming on the island, all snorkelling gear is available and also kayaks. We also had a daily breakfast supplied by Rachel and John and it was outstanding just like the home baking they gave us. Makayla Palms is so perfectly placed for any adventure you wish to do on the island. We can not wait to return to Makayla Palms to once again enjoy a most wonderful piece of paradise. We can not thank Rachel and John enough for making our holiday everything we dreamed of.

We spent a wonderful week here, in the Tia villa - I think the only one that has a partial lagoon view (I don't think the other two have any). The location is fantastic, just 30 seconds' walk to the beautiful, deserted beach. The snorkelling was amazing (though this was our first experience of it), and the free kayaks were great for paddling around the lagoon. We went for the package which included transfers, breakfast, sunset platter and a massage each, which was all absolutely great. Rachel was extremely helpful giving tips for places to eat and visit and we would highly recommend eating at Tamarind House and Vaimas. She also dropped by a couple of times with freshly baked biscuits and slices, which was wonderful. The wireless hotspot was a bit tricky to get and keep connection with my iPhone, but the place is so relaxing, being unconnected was part of the charm! The villa was comfortably furnished, and spotlessly clean. The cockerels crowed at various times of the day, not just at night, but they are everywhere on the island and would be difficult to avoid. Even wearing earplugs they can still be heard, but you do become accustomed to them after a few nights. My only gripe if I was forced to come up with one, would be that there is a separate charge ($25 per day) if you want to use the air con. We've stayed in places all over the world and never encountered an additional charge for this. I would rather John and Rachel put their prices up a little and included it as standard, as I'm sure most people would agree that it's essential for a good nights' sleep.
Overall, I'd say that it has been one of the best holidays we have ever had and we can't wait to return!
