“Faultless....Highly Reccomend!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

14th April - 20th April - We travelled to Rarotonga to get married. We came across this accomodation through searching the web, I can honestly say that Trip advisor was absolutely correct about Makayla Palms. Not one bad review and I can understand why.The Owners of this property were absolutely fabulous to us.

We travelled to marry alone no family or friends, John and Rachel have become our Cook Islands Family. Their extremely helpful, kind and professional, went above and beyond to make our special day and stay with them one we will never forget. This place has more than we expected. Its Clean, crisp and fresh. The gardens are kept to prefection. All villas are private and very secure. Rachel and John have thought of everything, There's not one thing these villas dont have. All self contained, Tiare Villa has everything from beautiful decor, entertainment (board games, music, books) sporting equipment (Kayaks, snorkle equip). Laundry facilities, transport to toiletries lol. Note; Rachel can bake yummy food :-) Her pre order breakfasts very very tasty.

We feel honor to have stayed here. Our private candle light dinner was magical in the Tiare Villa. This premises is less than half a minute stroll to the beach. Which made it perfect for our ceremony, especially my beautiful grassed isle I got to be blessed with to walk down to meet my husband on such a pristine and amazing beach front. In my opion located on the best part of the island. Without a doubt we would do it all over and over again, our wedding was one word - PERFECT and so was our stay. We are already discussing planning to renew our vows back here - definately with Makayla Palms :-) This time with a few family and friends, which will all be staying at this wonderful estate, so look out we will be back!

Should anyone consider this as a wedding destination contact me for any info on my experience and I would be more than happy to share or contact Rachel and she can arrange absolutely anything. Prompt and efficient communicators I must mention which Rachel and John, My many emails kepted them amused at times lol. Highly Highly recommended this whether your after a Intimate or gathering with family and friends Wedding.

Last and most of all thank you again Makayla Palms you made our time in the Cooks a very pleasurable and memorable time we will cherish forever.
With All our Love Brian and Chantelle Tebbutt.
Pics will follow.

April 2013, Our stay was everything promised and more!
The Villa was beautiful and very relaxing. Only a short stroll to the best beach in Rarotonga with all tides swimming and snorkelling.
Rachael & John are very caring and wish you only to enjoy your holiday.
They do their very best to see this happens.
Rachael comes around with home baking every now and then (ginger crunch my favourite)
We would have no hesitation in recommending Makayla Palms for a holiday to anyone and have already done so.
This was our fourth visit to Rarotonga and we have stayed in a different location each time, this was by far our most enjoyable stay thanks to Rachael & John
We are planning our next stay with them at the end of the year

It has taken us a while to respond but we will never forget our wonderful stay at Makayla Palms. it was our first trip to Raro but won't be our last. The unit had all we wanted and more; comfortable bed, good bathroom, space, peace and quiet, fresh herbs in the garden, local fruit, a few essentials to use and replace, great location and wonderful hosts. We had good chats daily to Rachel and happy that we met John the day before we left to share more stories. We loved the beach a few steps away for our daily swim. kayak or snorkel and reckon it is the best one on the island. Look forward to our next trip.

This was our first time to Cook Islands and we couldn't be happier with our experience!! There were 5 of us that stayed in one of the villas. It is an amazing set up with even more amazing hosts! Rachael and John were so welcoming! A two second walk to a picture perfect beach, and fruit galore to choose from
We are currently planning our trip back and wouldn't stay anywhere else!

We spent five relaxing days at Makayla Palms and enjoyed every minute. The villas are well appointed and spotlessly clean, and John and Rachel were excellent hosts who give us many little extras like fresh fruit and baking. Although you aren't near much in the way of shopping or restaurants, the local bus service is cheap and runs hourly each way. The beach is only a few feet away although not visible from the villas. The beach is great (and very quiet), with superb snorkeling because there is a reef well offshore that results in a large lake-like area for snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, etc. John and Rachel provide the snorkeling gear and kayaks. One note: although the website is correct in saying "free WiFi", all that means is a connection to a telecom hotspot. You still have to buy a data account from the local phone company in order to access the internet.

An excellent choice for any visitors to Raro:
- Lovely villas stocked with all the essentials for a self-catering holiday (and some things you didn't even realise were essential).
- 10 second walk to the beach (with few other visitors). Amazing snorkelling straight off the beach - no need to try other spots round the island.
- Delicious breakfasts and home-baking.
- Rachel and John make everything so easy: from scooter/car hire and snorkel equipment to well-vetted restaurant and activity recommendations/bookings. As hosts, they absolutely can't be faulted.
We'll be back!

This was our first trip to the Cook Islands, and we really enjoyed the people there. Our time there felt like being in an actual community instead of something set up for tourists. This was enhanced by the fact that John and Rachel knew everyone (maybe not surprising since it takes 45 minutes to circumnavigate the whole island by car).
Makayla Palms was a beautiful, modern, clean, well taken care of property on Raro. The owners take great pride in their villas and the grounds. They have a wonderful garden and the beach is secluded (we had the whole beach to ourselves most of the time). We cooked while we stayed there and it's in walking distance of a botanical garden with a cafe and has a little fruit stand across the street but otherwise you would some sort of transportation to get around (bike, motorbike, car, kayak, bus). It was unusually hot while we stayed there so sleeping was a bit a challenge (although it made the ocean feel that much nicer). My wife had allergies to the smoke around the island from burning piles of yard cuttings and sweet flowers. Our villa was the closest to the road so we did hear motorbikes, but that's not unique to MP.
John and Rachel had great recommendations for local places to visit, and they arranged a very nice dinner for us prepared by a local family, with dancing from their talented daughters. They really take care of you: our original flight in was cancelled (Virgin Australia) but John met us at the airport with a rental car that they had paid for, and they arranged for us to stay in the Rarotongan on the first night until our room at MP was available.
We didn't really know what to expect, but ended up having a great relaxing time, swimming 3x a day and getting immersed in island time.
