“Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

I was just looking through vacation pictures and reminiscing my lovely stay at Royal Takitumu. I'm ready to go back! The staff was incredible! Joy and Mii were just wonderful...they felt like part of my family. The grounds are beautiful, VIP bungelow was comfy and everything we needed. There are two fruit stands within walking distance, fabulous snorkeling right outside your door, delicious Monday morning tea and muffins, and the locals are the kindest around. Going to Rarotonga? Stay here. Thank you for everything, friends. We'll be back!

Lots of love,
James & Brandy

My Husband and I had a wonderful week staying at the Royale Takitumu villas. they more than lived up to all of the excellent reviews here on trip advisor. Mii and Joy were lovely hosts who were more than happy to help with any planning, booking and advice needed. Mii's muffins on Monday were delicious & a great way to meet some of the other guests. The beach was lovely and so private. We were often the only people walking along the beach. We had a look at some of the other resorts on the Island and there was no doubt that we booked in the nicest area. We had a lagoon view villa which was spacious and well equipped. Our only regret was we hadn't splurged and booked a villa right on the beach, even though we were only about 30 metres from the beach front. We will definitely be back and cant recommend the Royale enough and the Cook Islands as a perfect location for a relaxing holiday.

Room Tip: If you can stretch for a beachfront villa go for it. otherwise the lagoon view villas were great and...

We had a great week at Royale Takitumu Villas. Mii and Joy are great hosts and make the stay easy and friendly. We stayed in a VIP Beachfront Villa which was so close to the beach with great views out to the beautiful lagoon. It was sheltered and private. The gardens are lovely and the pool is well maintained..very clean. You are close to restaurants with our favourites being The Mooring Cafe at Muri and Sands which is a 5 min walk from Takitumu.
The snorkelling out from the Villas was some of the best on the island so unless it's windy don't bother going anywhere else.
We had a rental car as part of the package and Jaret at Go Island Rentals was great to deal with.
We hope this little hidden gem doesn't get too popular as we want to return again soon.

We stayed from Nov 4 - 9 and this is a wonderful resort. Mii and Joy are wonderful hosts for your vacation, very helpful in every aspect. The moment you arrive you see how clean the grounds are and the villa is spotless. The view is remarkable...hard to put into words. It leaves you breathless.

The only issue we had was with the cleaning of the villa after you arrive. You receive clean towels, washroom amenities and your bed is made everyday, however there is no cleaning for the rest of your stay. So if you only stay a couple days that is fine, however after a few days the soaker tub becomes pretty dirty as it is also used as your shower. It would have been helpful that if cleaning of the villa each day is not part of the rental, then have the villa stocked with some cleaning supplies so the guests can give the tub etc. a scrub. Our bedding was not changed either and after many days of soaking up the sun and sand it would have been nice to have some bedding that did not have sand in it. So again maybe the staff could leave clean bedding so the guests could change them if they chose to.

This was the only downside of this resort and we would definitely return in a heartbeat. Just pickup a little cleaner before staying too many days.

Room Tip: You cannot go wrong with any of the villa's they are all wonderful. The lagoon is right there w...

Kia Orana Jill and thanks for your Fantastic review of Royale Takitumu. We are so happy to read that you enjoyed your villa, the grounds, and our amazing staff. We apologize if you felt that your Villa was not cleaned properly. Our housekeeping staff is very well trained, and has been working for us for many years. They do clean the villas on a daily basis (with the exception of Sunday), and part of that cleaning includes replacing used towels, replenishing toiletries, making (and changing) the beds, cleaning the bathrooms, and washing the floors. We most certainly wish you had immediately brought this to our attention during your stay. We will be most certainly reviewing your concerns and will discuss this with our entire team. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are glad that you had a fantastic trip, and that you chose Royale Takitumu for your stay. We hope your travels return you to Rarotonga and Royale Takitumu very soon. Thanks again!

My partner and I stayed at this resort in November . We had two wonderful days . The staff could not do enough to make sure we felt well taken care of . But as a couple they really respected our privacy and time together. The care and passion that the owner and staff have for this property is obvious in every little detail . The gardens are pristine as are the rooms. I would highly recommend this resort for a couple looking to spend some quality time together. Thank you .

Room Tip: We had a beach front - which I would seriously recommend . The Beach is beautiful .. oh and each vi...

We have recently returned from a week at Royale Takitumu, our delayed honeymoon. What can I say, you read all the reviews and think can it really be that good... well it really is that good, its one of the few places we have been to that we really felt sad at leaving and its very easy to understand why there are so many repeat visits, we certainly will be returning.
The service is superb, Joy and Mii are always there to offer advice, book meals, talk to us about the history of the island and deal with minor issues such as when I locked the safe and couldn't open it. We found ourselves chatting to them for ages about anything and everything. The in house activities such as morning coffee and muffins, Petanque competition and Flower Lei weaving were all excellent fun and gives you the opportunity to meet the other guests.
We booked a Beach front Honeymoon Villa which was right on the beach. We stayed in #3 but having had a look we would have been happy to have stayed in any of the villas. The villa was clean, well laid out, spacious and well appointed. Its those little extra touches which make all the difference such as when you arrive at past midnight to find flowers on the bed, fresh fruit and other essentials in the fridge.
The location is fantastic and there is something special about waking up to a deep blue sea and falling asleep to a star light sky. As others have said there is no sign and you would easily drive past and not realise its even there. The beach is probably one of the best on the island and the lagoon on this side of the island is wide so there is plenty of opportunities for safe kayaking and snorkelling which we did everyday. There are stacks of fish to see in the lagoon and the if you take the kayak out don't forget to turn around and look at the view of the island.
The swimming pool is lovely and on the one day when the wind was a little strong on the beach it offers a sheltered alternative.
Meals are no problem, if there is a problem its the fact that you will eat too much, there are so many close alternatives to either walk to or in some cases they collect you, and the quality of the food was fantastic. Listen to Joy and Mii they have the best recommendations for both meals and activities.
In summary if you are going to Rarotonga go to Royale Takitumu you will not regret it.

We have just come back from 7 nights at Royale Takitumu and can't wait to get back. There is everything you need for a great, relaxing holiday and in the best possible surroundings. This was our third visit to Rarotonga but definitely the best. We had a beachfront villa which had amazing views and the beach would be the best on the island. The petanque was a lot of fun and great to meet other guests. We would like to thank Mii and Joy for helping to make the week a great one, nothing was too much trouble. This was a delayed honeymoon for us and we couldn't have asked for better. Jacqui and Neil

Room Tip: Beach front villas had amazing views.
