“Decent value for money.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

The hotel is not walking distance to Arles, so you need a car for sure. We found it quite difficult to find - our Sat Nav kept sending us the wrong way and we had to ask directions from a pedestrian. (Luckily we could speak French). Woman at desk was rather over-worked, but generally quite pleasant. Breakfast was good and in a lovely room.

I booked this hotel through Venere.com. The reviews looked good, but the reality was something different. The picture showed a modern comfortable hotel. We got the other wing!

What we got was a shabby hostel-type room with dusty floors and paper-thin mattresses.

We had requested twin beds, but not a twin bed in separate cubicles. The promised free WiFi was not accessible except in the lobby at a very, very slow speed and my wife's i-Pad ceased to function after she logged in for the third time. (A tech pro later told her that this malfunction was a result of their server.) Oh yeah, the i-Pad CEASED TO FUNCTION THROUGH THE REMAINING 7 DAYS OF OUR TRIP. We carried the damn thing and we couldn't use it!

The hotel restaurant didn't look too "swift" - the choices were sort of weird and unappetizing to us. There was only one other restaurant within walking distance, and it wasn't much "swifter".

We could not understand the discrepancy between what we got and what we thought we would be getting until our travel companions discovered this lovely new wing with a pool hidden behind "our quarters" - obviously the site of the photos advertising this hotel. This is a "bait 'n switch" if I ever saw one!

We are not "picky" travelers AT ALL. I regret reserving this room - I paid $100 US for THIS?!

REDEEMING QUALITY: the husband of our traveling companions left his passport case complete with money and credit cards when they checked out. When we returned to the hotel, the cleaning person had turned it in to the front desk. Had the advertising been half as honest as the staff, this place would've gotten a higher rating from us!

The cleaning staff's honesty made this bad experience a good one considering that we'd have been at a consulate or embassy getting our guy a passport replacement instead of enjoying the rest of our vacation!

Room Tip: If your room ain't in the "NEW WING", you're gonna find that it ain't gonna fl...

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights as part of a 3 week tour round France. We stayed at about 6 or 7 Inter Hotels, and the others were just what we were expecting and good value for money. But not this one.

It was hard to find (no signposting at all - it is in the small village of Forques, about 3-4km away), and when we did we thought it looked just like in the Inter Guide (we hadn't pre-booked any hotels, so used the Inter guide book as we went along). Except when we tried to book for dinner (the food options listed in the Guide were one of the reasons we chose this hotel) we were simply told "Sorry, restuarant closed." No explanation, that was it. Our French isn't very good, and there was no fluent English speaker among the staff, but we thought there should be some explanation?? The hotel has a lovely bar and dining area (used for breakfast) but it was all shut up in the evenings. We were told there was a restaurant we could go to 3 mins walk away in the Industrial area of Forques round the back of the hotel, but this wasn't a very attractive setting and the prices were very expensive. Are the restaurant and the hotel sharing profits??! So we had to drive to Arles every night for dinner, which meant one of us could only have soft drinks. Disappointing in a country with so many fine wines...

My final point is that room 112 (I think) was not as well furnished as others - there was no balcony, the room was smaller and had no hairdryer (although that was advertised in the Inter Guide), which was an inconvenience over 3 days more than a huge problem. But the price was the same as all the other bigger rooms. And the staff, whilst friendly, didn't go out of their way to help or speak to you - and we couldn't work out who was in charge!! There was never more than 1 or 2 staff members to be found around the whole hotel during the day. Even at breakfast time there was hardly ever a staff member around - the food was just all laid out and you just went in and sat where you want and helped yourself.

The only exception being the older gentleman who did the night shift and would always ask if we were having breakfast in the morning, and opened up the (normally very closed!) bar for us to have a beer one night. He was lovely.

I think we were there just as the Management were changing hands, so it is possible that we just were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Because the hotel buildings themselves are lovely. Yes, it's a little way outside of Arles but if, like us, you have a car/bike and are touring at your own leisure, it's a great base for both Arles and the Camargue.
