Owner description: Not all of the sites on Hadrian's Wall were heavily guarded fortresses. Corbridge was a supply base and bustling town where the Romans and civilians would pick up food and provisions. Today, you can still walk through the town's streets and experience a true time-capsule of Roman life. You can see a valuable hoard of objects found during excavations, including Roman armour and trinkets, which provide a fascinating insight into the life of a soldier.

“Corbridge roman fort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

Interesting morning out to Corbridge roman fort.
Great views of surrounding countryside and very close to a number of other forts & temples.
Museum was well presented and the English Heritage staff were very knowledgable and helpful.
Corbridge town itself is small but also worth a short visit.

“Very informative”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

We visited Corbridge Roman Site twice when we spent 3 weeks in Northumberland in October 2012. If staying in the area for more than a week and intending to see all the Roman sites it is worth you joining English Heritage. By doing this you don't have to pay the entry fees and in some sites you get parking free also. In 3 weeks we had covered the cost of our membership so it is good value. The site itself is well labelled, and there is plenty of space for kids to run around also. They don't seem to mind kids climbing on the ruins also as we saw kids there having a great time. There's also a large grassy area that you could have a picnic on, on a fine day. Take a pair of binoculars with you too if you can, you will probably see rabbits, robins and phesants in the hedgerows. The museum is well set out and also has a number of children's activities to keep the littlies busy.

“Very interesting day out”

This is a great place to visit, along with other sites close by. We are very lucky to have several wonderful roman archaeological sites close together.
