“Week-end Break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

Spent a wonderful break away at this delightful lodge in the west of Ireland. The owners Eamon and Catherine are the perfect hosts (including Bruno). Excellent facilities all round. The full Irish Breakfast is a must with lovely homemade breads. You will not be disappointed with this choice of accommodation.

Room Tip: Very comfortable with all mod cons. Nice views over the countryside.

We needed a spot at the last minute and stumbled on this from sheer luck. Talk about "hale fellow well met!", if you didn't know that Eamon once ran a public house, it should not take you more than about 10 seconds to figure it out. We were at home in the instant, sampled homemade bread, met a yellow lab who wanted to be friends, got a great recommendation for dinner, a fine clean room, and a wonderful breakfast the next day. And, if that wasn't enough, we'd had a "bit of a bump" with one of the mirror casings on our car and weren't sure it if could be repaired or needed to be replaced. Eamon turned up a nearby dealer whose parts department was open on the Saturday of a BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND! Eamon set up the visit, we went by and the parts fellow came out and looked at the problem. He could have sold us a replacement for 85euros, but no, he looked at it, fiddled a bit, got a screwdriver and put it back together. He used no parts and refused payment, saying only that he was happy to help.
Grand place, wonderful people, the best of the best.

In june 2013 I stayed 11 days at Cloonlara Lodge and I felt like a friend from the very first day. Eamon and Catherine did everything for me enjoying this wonderful holiday. Never I had such excellent breakfasts in ireland (and i stayed in many B&Bs and lodges, believe me). Eamon and Catherine gave many interesting suggestions where to go and what to see and visit. "Coming home" to the lodge at late afternoon they offered tea and home-made fruit cake. My room was clean and comfortable, the lounge well equipped.
As a very great friend of irish-country music I met Adrian Ryan who also stayed at the lodge. And of course I will not forget "my new friend" Bruno (their dog).. To say it in irish: go raibh maith agat agus slan go foill.

If you have looked closely at this bed and breakfast, and you choose it for a nights stay, you will find that everything is just as advertised - and that is excellent. You can walk into Swinford, where there are some quaint Irish shops and a couple of places to eat, and whether it is sunny and warm or cold and rainy, you will be well looked after by the owners of Cloonlara Lodge.

Aemonn and Catherine are very friendly and helpful hosts. We only stayed 3 nights but would certainly recommend longer.
They could not do enough to help you. The room was lovely and clean and breakfast very good, especially the seed

Lovely place to stay. Aemonn and Catherine could not do enough to help you. You were welcomed on arrival with a lovely cup of tea and homemade cake although Catherine was in the middle of painting. We had a nice big very clean and comfortable room, everything was excellent. Could not ask for better, would certainly return here.

This is our third stay at Cloonlara Lodge in 5 years and it is still one of the best. The food is always top notch and locally sourced and nothing is to much trouble. The owners are always friendly. Very clean and big rooms to stay in. We had a fire lit every night in the lounge which made it very cosy. Will be back for more. Once again thanks for a great stay. Edward,Martin. Anne and Beatrice
