“Doubletree LHR”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

This is a great place to come to when you land in London at Heathrow. It is an easy easy Hoppa (H56) bus ride from all the terminals for 4 pounds. A ticket can be bought at any of the counters at the airport or from bus driver. They will tell you which bus to get on. A bus comes every 30 minutes.

The rooms are modern, bar is well stocked, the restaurant has a wide menu, there is 24 hour room service. Everything you need when you get late at night.

The breakfast buffet was superb.

This will be my choice going in and out of Heathrow in the future. And Hilton points too.

Room Tip: Hilton Diamonds will get an upgraded room. It was perfect with free WIFI.

Stayed at the hotel the night before flying out for a short break. Room was very clean and well maintained. Lounge and restaurant areas were very clean and well maintained too. Great hotel to stay in if you are flying out of heathrow as the Hoppa Bus picks up and drops off from the hotel.
Breakfast was very good in the morning and would definitely stay at this hotel again.

I've stayed in a few Doubletree by Hilton Hotels and this isn't one of their best. I arrived just after 8.45pm and the computers were down so the last thing I needed was to stand there for 10 minutes whilst someone had to go and physically check the room to make sure it was tidy and empty. Everything was booked in manually and they even had to write down that I wanted breakfast the next morning. The restaurant didn't know about it the next morning though as reception hadn't told them and when I went for my evening meal they were struggling too due to the computers being down. I thought the food choice was pretty average too to be honest.

As for the room, you can't beat a big comfy king sized bed. What you can beat though is two single beds pushed together with an obvious join down the middle as the beds were slightly different heights. Also, as it is close to the flight path for Heathrow, you do get to hear EVERY take off and landing unfortunately as the sound proofing was dreadful.

The receptionist was fantastic, having said all that, and was still there next morning and was still smiling. She also knew the local buses for getting around the area, but she was the exception to the rule. The rest of the staff looked fed up most of the time. Also, when you ask a member of the restaurant staff a question (could I have a coffee please?), you would expect them to understand English and not have to get someone else over so they could take the order.

Would I stay here again? Maybe at that price but only if there was no others available.

Feel almost apologetic by joining in the chorus of recent good reviews for this hotel, but it was much better than expected at a price that did not break the bank. The room was clean, tidy and comfortable, and the bathroom was absolutely spotless. Staff pleasant and obliging and the food in the restaurant in the evening not at all bad, though a family group seated nearby seemed to have some issues that were handled calmly and quietly.
Breakfast was good, with the fried eggs (my personal measure of a breakfast's standing) were good and plentiful. The TV worked and had a good selection of channels.
It is not until you step outside that you realise how close is the north runway at Heathrow. The sound insulation for the hotel must be pretty special as we were not troubled by noise at all.
As others have pointed out, very convenient for the airport and services into the capital.

I liked staying here, people were friendly, food not at all bad, and nice and close to the airport, but not at all noisy. Rooms were well appointed and bed comfy. Would stay again, and would recommend.

Check in process was seamless and I was given a room on a high floor and then a cookie on top of that so who can complain.

Design was fresh and modern, rooms spacious, bed a bit too firm for my taste but pillows and comforter super comfortable.

No gym, which was a letdown.

I would definitely stay here again. However, there was one issue that should have been handled better. The fire alarm went off at midnight (I had to get up at 4:30 for my flight) and not one person at reception came to greet all of us who came downstairs wondering what was going on so we just talked together and figured it was fine to go back upstairs even though nobody officially informed us it was safe. The next morning, when I asked, I was told someone had had their bathroom door open after a shower and that the steam had made the alarm go off. They need to improve that system as well as that of the fire alarm procedures to give better information and organize evacuations.

Great reception, extremely clean. Staff attentive. Breakfast delicious. Rooms and amenities were perfect! The hoppa bus was timely and we arrived in plenty of time for our flight. The hallways were exceptionally clean and fresh smelling. Which is quite unusual for most hotels. And well lit too.
