With our 15 year old daughter we stayed at Winton House for four nights. We had the Chapel and Orchard rooms and both were clean with exceptionally comfortable beds. Our daughter loved the four poster in her room! It is not advertised but both rooms had a mini fridge, discreetly placed in the wardrobe and (surprisingly in my experience) were very quiet. This was a nice touch (James - maybe add this to the list of facilities in the room!) and proved really useful.
The owners, James and Alex, were helpful but unobtrusive and the house has a very relaxed, informal atmosphere. Special note to their "Girl Friday" Helga, she was really cheerful and helpful. The location is lovely and close to many attractions,although I should imagine it would be quite difficult without own transport. The nearby villages have some lovely pubs and restaurants, Alex is a mine of information on good places to eat and all her recommendations were spot on!
As a family we have stayed in numerous hotels and bed and breakfasts, we chose this on a whim really, never having visited the area before and wanting a base for a few days to explore, for the price it really is worth a visit. It was lovely to spend a few days away together and I am so glad we chose this place. We came back home feeling relaxed and (per my daughter) "Well chilled out". No higher praise really!
