Just returned from a fabulous weekend dog walking stayed at the Dolphin , staff couldn't have been more helpful or polite. The menu is one of the most extensive we have seen, with something for all. The Hotel offers a full Restaurant or lounge/ bar eating. They also have a function room. I highly recommend the fish dishes, slow cooked pork belly and the steak and kidney pie truly delicious.
The long bar is very welcoming with bar billiards, table football and pool. There is a lovely log fire with a comfortable leather sofa to relax into with a good selection of real ales or hot chocolate to enjoy.
The village of Beer is very beautiful situated on the coast with easy access to the coastal foot paths and good road network.
The hosts are very loving and welcoming towards well behaved dogs. The room have a couple of dedicated dog rooms which are excellent and dogs are welcome in the lounge and long bars.
A big thank you to the team... we will be back

Room Tip: Take a good book and settle down by the lovely fire enjoying excellent beer!!!

Great little Hotel, Very good location and value for money. Staff were very nice. Request a room with bed and got it however when checking in we were offered a free upgrade which i thought was very nice of them but did stick to the room with a bath, 5 star service . Many thanks.

Visited Beer on the one day in January when it didn't rain. Took my friends from Hampshire into the bar for a quick lunch. My expectations weren't all that high as it looked a bit 'seventies-ish'. The bar menu was clear and concise and looked good value for main meals at £5.95. We ordered fish, ham & chips and I went for the liver & bacon.
The meals came relatively quickly and to be honest .. were absolutely delicious. I hadn't had liver & bacon for a while and it was absolutely superb. The quantity was excellent and the mashed potato was sublime. The ham seemed local and home cooked and the fish was lovely too.
The real ale was well kept and the correct temperature. We left having had a superb lunch and a great all-round experience. Even the faded splendour of the bar had a distinct charm about it, in retrospect, and was cosy and warm. I would certainly return again for lunch as it was such good value.

Our second stay at The Dolphin Hotel in Beer and yet again a great visit. Spacious, clean and warm rooms, comfortable beds, great food and welcoming staff, especially the lovely lady on reception. We had our two young children with us and the rooms had plenty of space for us to spend time relaxing in our room. The chef went out of his way to serve up great, and very generous, children's meals which our kids loved. Our room was directly above the bar which despite being busy on the Saturday evening wasn't noisy in our room and did not in any way disturb us. Would definitely stay again. Lovely walk on the cobb in Lyme Regis and visit to the RNLI station there - highly recommended.

Room Tip: Room 8 is a great size with two rooms joined so perfect for families.

Subjected to a cold shower two mornings running. Darren Clinch (owner) stated this was the result of too many guests taking showers at the same time. It was pointed out that as the check out time was 10 am guests were bound to be showering at the same time. The response was that guests should get up earlier! When it was suggested that technology could be used to avoid this situation Clinch refused to consider such and suggested we stay somewhere else in future. This hotel has good staff it doesn't deserve but owners who put guests last and not first.
