“Rural location, friendly hosts and a great breakfast”

Mill Farm Horningsham

Jul 14, 2008

We stayed for one night at Mill Farm B&B. We arrived at around 3pm, and at first thought we had arrived at the wrong place as we literally drove onto a farm! However we were in the right place, and Margaret greeted us with tea and cake which was nice.

The room was clean and comfortable with all the essentials. The en-suite had a shower, sink, toilet and small heater. The bedroom had a very comfortable bed (2 singles pushed together for a double), small TV/DVD unit, tea/coffee making and a small fridge with a jug of fresh milk and a couple of small bottles of water.

Even though this is a working farm it was pretty quiet, and although we thought otherwise we didn't in fact get woken up early by the farmyard animals! We saw cows, geece, chickens, ducks and a very friendly dog.

Breakfast was excellent, cereals and fruit followed by a cooked breakfast of your choice, with toast, orange juice and tea or coffee.

All in all a very nice place to stay, well situated close to Longleat as well as Frome and not far from Bath. There were a few pub/restaurants close by-we ate at Pizza Hut on a retail park containing a Sainsburys, McDonalds and KFC(only a few miles away from Mill Farm on the way to Frome). We would stay again.

We stayed 2 nights at Mill Farm so we could go to Longleat and explore the area. We couldn't arrive till late in the evening on the 1st night, this was not a problem, we still got a very warm welcome at 9pm on a chilly Saturday night. Our room was lovely and the heating was on for us. Fresh milk for a brew after our 4 hour journey was a nice touch. Our breakfast was fab, loads of everything. We got lots of advice on how to plan our visit to Longleat which was very helpful. Nothing seemed too much trouble and Mr and Mrs Crossman make excellent hosts. I would recommend a stay at Mill Farm to anyone. We hope to return as we loved the area and we wouldn't consider staying anywhere else!

Have been coming here for years. Steven & Margaret cannot do enough for you. The rooms are very clean, have a fridge and fresh milk for your tea & coffee.

You are greeted with an offer of tea and home made cake. The breakfasts are huge and last you till tea time.

The surroudings are breathtaking and so tranquil. I love to sit by the pond reading a book or watching the ducks.

A wonderful warm welcome, greeted with a cherry hello and homemade cake and a pot of tea in the garden . Accommadation was lovely , clean and very well presented. Room even had a fridge. Tea and coffee supplied in room.
Breakfast was huge and everything you could possibly wish for was on the menu from cereal , fresh strawberries, yougurt to a huge full english.
This is a working farm , but i cannot say enough about this wonderful place , you will not be dissappointed.
We visited Longleat whilst staying here.

A great B & B find very close to Longleat.

Margaret and Stephen made us most welcome.

Little touches like fresh milk in the fridge in the room were really appreciated

The breakfast is great - with the best fried bread we've tasted in ages!
