“Nice modern hotel although let down by it's restaurant.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012 via mobile

We had a sea view room that was very nice, huge balcony with a great view although not directly on the beach.
This hotel is deemed 5* but the restaurant is nothing of the sort. For us as a young couple we felt it was tacky e.g pool table, bubble gum machines next to eating area. Perhaps better for families.

I have just returned after a five day holiday in IOLIDA BEACH hotel.I check early and drive through my apartment with pool which was at building number one just across the reception. The apartment was lovely with a sitting area including a small kitchenette,a very small flat tv,a refrigerator a big bathroom and the bedroom. We have a large terrace with four sunbeds in front of our personal pool.Very clean in a good condition and size. Our apartment was in front of the main pool of our building with side sea view.Free wifi all days without problems. The hotel staff is well prepared, willing to help kind and polite. The buffet breakfast and dinner were excellant with a variety of choises.Rooms are cleaned daily.Hotel is right on beach but be careful the sea in front is rocky. The bus station is at front of the hotel but I never use it so I do not know the routes.I rent a car as I always do from Europcar choosing ''rent a car 365'' site.Cheap and in a good condition.I believe the hotel it's for families as I saw a lot.You must visit the old harbour of chania(there are a lot of places to park your car with only 50 cents per half of hour). Also you must visit Elafonisi south of crete from the site of Libyan sea and stay there for swimming. The monastere of Arcadi at Rethymno is must.If you need to eat real cretan cuisine try the restaurant ''Milos tou Kerata'' at platanias village it's about one km from the hotel.

Room Tip: The apartment of pool is must but there are only two.The most rooms have sea view.

[August 2012]
Location (Agia Marina) in the West part of the island is good and not as crowded as Platanias.
Nearby you can find a Mart, car rental, shops and restaurants.
We have been very pleased with the hotel staff. Food (buffet) was well executed, fresh and surpringly good (stewed lamb for instance).
On the drinks side, you have to purchase extra if you do not like the water coffee and orange mix.
Room (1st floor pool view) in the back of the hotel was spacious, well maintained, daily cleaned, with a kitchenette. Noise insulation is very good.
The 15" TV is shocking (all rooms have the same) but you are not in Crete to watch TV :P. Also the couples have to accept joint single beds; no queen beds here.
Internet WiFi signal was acceptable but needs to pay extra. Affordable 12EUR for a week. Shared bandwidth reaches a bottom in the evening. The WiFi in the restaurant (sea view) is faster.
The pool in the back is nice, long and clean. Orange towels for the stay are available but extra. Sun-beds access was free.
Beach is nice, with ocre sand but not the nicest of the island.
Parking for cars is available underground.
Cannot compare to 5-star hotel, it's rather a 4-star.
Manucure/pedicure can be booked at hotel and it's provided by an external person (very good work and nice). It's cheaper than the salons in the street.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back of the hotel accross the street are larger and newer than the ones by the sea. A...

Excellent hotel with nice clean rooms and very polite staff. The food was also very good at the hotel. You definetely need a car if you are going to travel to all the beaches there. The town center is 10 min with the car.
I recommend the stay to anyone going to Chania.

Room Tip: Choose a room closer to the beach and the reception

This was our second time at Iolida beach Hotel. All in all everything was if not better, equally excellent as last year. The service is great, everyone wears a big smile and does all they can to be helpful. The room as well as all hotel areas are super clean at all times. Breakfast better than last year, more options on the buffet and better presented.
Although the hotel was totally packed we felt really welcome and comfortable.
