“Excellent food, excellent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

This taverna is located in the Old Village and we ended up here for lunch as our favourite restaurant from our previous visit in May 2011 (Synaxis) was closed.

We ate here most lunchtimes - pretty much worked our way through the menu - and quite a lot of evenings too.
We didn't have a bad meal.

Most lunchtimes, we shared a selection of starters, variously:
Greek Salad, fried courgettes or aubergines, tzatziki, beetroot with oil & vinegar, skordalia, tirokafteri (spicy cheese dip) and an amazing lamb meat pie that had us gasping when it appeared on the table then reaching for our cameras.
We also always ordered a plate of olives which wasn't on the menu.

We were always served with a free sweet and raki.

Evening meals we tried (and enjoyed):
moussaka, stiffado, souvlaki, spicy burgers - usually with Greek potatoes which were very nice.
Litre of local white wine was 9 euro.

Staff were very pleasant. Pedro who mainly served us at lunchtimes was such a lovely chap.

On our last evening we were given a bottle of wine with the Horiatiko label on to take home with us.

All in all, a great taverna with a relaxed atmosphere and wonderful food.

There's another taverna next door with a very similar name - Horiatiki Gonia, I think.

“Great taverna, great people, great meal!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2013

Family run taverna with classic Greek and Creten dishes. Owner and staf are super friendly and accommodating. Dishes tasty, colorfull and huge. Note: in peak hours (which is almost all evening and night hours) you'll be waiting to get in if not there by 6pm.

“Very average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

Service was lacking a bit as it took 15 mins to let us know they had ran out of the main dish we had ordered, however, the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Food was decidedly average when compared to other places we had eaten and we would not be likely to make a return visit.
Despite this it was a very busy restaurant so our experience may not be shared by others.
