“Don't think we will return, a very forgettable place !”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2014

Our 1st visit to Crete and we were a family of 7 (including mum who had walking difficulty) Stayed for 5 nights at this place after staying at the other end of the island (Koutouloufari- Sunrise Apartments) for our first 5 nights.
The good points...
Very central to everything.
The people that worked in the bar and the snack bar and the cleaners were all really nice.
Some great restaurants around and the snack bar does wonderful crepes.

The NOT so good points.
On arrival was given a great big studio for 3 of us and a tiny pokey room for the other 4 of us..View from room was 2 big air con units!!!
When we went to ask to be moved and was told no rooms left and if we cancelled we would get no money back, was told that people only sleep in their rooms on holiday so why not just stay in that room !!!!
Room was miraculously found after we said that we could not stop in that room. A room on the ground floor that was 3 times the size of the one offered initially.
Cost of air con 8 euros per night for apartment and 7 euros for a studio so 75 euros for the 5 nights in total !!! Overpriced in my opinion.
Free Wifi only in the bar and pool area not in the rooms.
Beach is dangerous as massive slippy rocks on entering NOT suitable for kids, we had a hire car and went out each day to other beaches and mountains.
Met a few people who had been told that their room had a problem to be fixed and they had to stay somewhere else for a couple of days....! I am sure this was a lie.
The west of Crete is stunning and a car is needed to see the real some beautiful places, but we would not stay here again it had no charm or atmosphere at all.

Dear travelers,

We have just returned from our holidays in Crete.

The Hotel conditions are far away from what they describe.

1. You have 15% chances only to get in the hotel presented in the pictures, the rest goes in a side apartments that are in a very poor conditions. (A/C above bed and your head, small bathrooms which looks more like my first university dorm) - http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g1049093-d2687410-Reviews-Evdokia_Apartments-Agia_Marina_Chania_Prefecture_Crete.html - it looks nice outside but distasteful inside.

2. We had to stay 2 days in one apartment and the rest of it in a room very far from main road.

3. Wi-fi only by the pool - they use these trick to make you spend money at their bar as any drinks or food are forbidden by the pool area.

4. 2 days out of 7 nobody changed our trash

5. 1 day without toiled paper

6. Air conditioning costs 7 euro/day - funny fact they tried to sell it with 8 euro/day but when we said that the other reception (i.e. Epimenidis said 49 euro/week) they agreed on 7. Pathetic !!!

7. The receptions were barely opened and we tried to find answers at Epimenidis hotel they are kind of rude and short in answers.

Please do take my review in considerations. I have been there, done that....

We booked room based on web site and what we got was total different. Different hotel opposite side alley and very small room.
Bathroom and shower was so tiny that it was hard to take a shower.
Pool was ok. Cannot say anything about food cause did not try.

Clean, neat, children will love it her, service far above what one might expect, efficient staff,i can recommend this hotel strongly. Close to everything, bus, food, beach and shown you need something just ask Janis at reception and it takes a lot for sure he can help. Coffee and pancake breakfast is provided by the wonderful Lea british cooking together with his son Mario, Janis "the creep maker from heaven" and you're an early bird like me, you get a fantastic cup of coffee on the way to the beach of the boss Epimenidis, who always has time for you and what you may need. You do not think about cleaning and washing, the hotel has two gorgeous ladies who do a fantastic job for you.

A very clean and modern hotel with first class maid service; clean towels supplied daily.

The pool area is very pleasant with a good atmosphere, plenty sun loungers and is also well maintained and cleaned in the evening.

It is situated in a good location whereby you’re right in the thick of it as you step out of the hotel.

Take note that the, as advertised, free Wi-Fi is not free and chargeable at 1.50 euro per hour. This was slightly souring since free Wi-Fi was fundamental to our booking this hotel for our children.

However, there’s no need to worry as every other establishment in Agia Marina that has Wi-Fi does offer it free.

All in all this is a nice place to stay.

Having stayed in Agia Marina before we knew the place and we have also stayed at Epimenidis a good few years ago!

for the price you pay, the rooms are very clean, just what you need! everywhere was kept clean and the pool was lovely and refreshing (theres nothing worse than a grubby pool!)

George and his family run the bar are lovely, so friendly and polite and they were so good with my little niece infact, everybody was, all of the local tavernas loved her and fussed over her!

The owner of the apartments is Greek/Canadian so he is easy to communicate with but all i can say is he likes to earn money wherever he can!
charging for a travel cot for the baby to sleep in, we took our own!
theres a Jaccuzi in the pool - you have to pay!
theres wifi - you have to pay!

we all decided as we had a late pick up to rent the room for the day, it was 40 euros which between 5 of us wasnt too bad but he tried to charge another couple 45 euros! there clearly isnt a set rate and he just tries to get what he can!!

the apartments are located perfectly if you want everything in easy reach, shops, the beach and the more lively town of platanias!!

if you rent a car i can reccommend a visit to Elafonissi Beach, its quite a drive (the do coach trips) but it really is worth a see, with shallow crystal clear warm waters, and PINK sand!!!

we also loved Lake Kournas, this is about an hour away and its a fresh water lake in the mountains, sunloungers to lay on and pedalos to rent! it was lovely for a swim!!

if you like snorkeling visit Ravdousha Beach! its tiny and it is mainly pebbles but again the water is so lovely and clear its like a little hide away!
