“More toppled stones...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

There are many beautiful Ahu's to see on the island, this site is marked but nothing sexy! Toppled stones, a good walk down from the parking lot... Nice vies of the ocean and crashing waves!

“Fascinating place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

Great way to learn the history of the island. All the moai ended up being pushed over. Get your guide Larry from the Taura hotel to show you around.

“Fascinating”

Our guide, Lily "China" Pakarati, introduced us to a fascinating, sometimes tragic, history of the Island.

“Downed moai tell the history of conflict among the tribes and natural disasters”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

When population density and depletion of resources caused conflicts among the Easter Island villages, east to west, the moai were downed because they afforded protection to the villagers and their destruction would diminish that protection. Some moai were affected by natural disasters. Repositioned moai on different ahus reflect their original status but these downed moais reflect the history of human conflict. Enjoy surf and turf (cattle) nearby as well as the ahu and its downed moai.
