“Overpriced but with a wonderful location.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2012

Very nice hotel, very good suite, big , very clean . Very good bed and pillows. No tv, no in room wi fi.you have to walk to the village because they don't have a shuttle. The breakfast is very good. Lunch and dinner they gave us a buffet of average quality being the grill the best with a very good cook doing the cooking. The Tuna , Maki Maki, steaks expertely made. The bar had a girl working there "mazanita" that was a simpaty and made wonderful pisco sours, she made the diference. The tours were very good , Miti the guide an ex teacher very cult and knowlegeble with the husband driving , i recomend it. Now the bad part , i paid for 4 nights ,all included almost 4000€.when we arrived the other couple that came with us , insted of a suite had a normal room, and they had paid the same. It took almost one hour of for the management to admit they were wrong. So, they told us that we could go to the spa for an hour, when we got there we were informed that it was just 25 minutes, they knew nothing about an hour.
Well it was very nice, easter island is magic, but almost 1000€ a day for a nice hotel with amateur service it's a bit too much.

Room Tip: Always a suite in the first row to the ocean.

I really wanted to like this hotel. It is in a great location- out of town, but a nice 15/20 minute walk to town. My room was large and very clean and the breakfast was good. The tours they arranged had a terrific guide. Wifi is only in the common areas, but worked well (and there is a computer in the lobby that guests can use as well, which came in handy as I was trying to stay on top of news and in touch with family during superstorm sandy). The pool area is nice. I ran along the beach road in the mornings right outside the hotel, along the coast and past several moai. Those are the positives.

Service was strictly amateur hour (other than service at breakfast) and most of the staff were not particularly friendly (which was in stark contrast to pretty much everyone else I dealt with on the island).

They left my luggage OUTSIDE unattended for several hours when I went into town upon arrival for a bit to eat since my room was not ready. When I came back and saw my bag sitting there and complained, they could not understand why that was a problem.

In addition, they have sprinklers going in the middle of the night, starting up at 4am. This woke me up the first night as the sprinkler was right in front of my door; when I complained, they shut if off after about 30 minutes. The manager assured me that it would not happen again, but it did the following night. What makes it more annoying is that the sprinklers were watering weeds and dirt, essentially making mud in the middle of the night. Management seems to have forgotten to put plants or grass down, so the grounds look pretty shabby. After the second night, they successfully kept it turned off.

The rooms are interestingly designed and definitely aesthetically pleasing, but not very practical--among other things the light switches were randomly assigned to lights that made no sense and the bathtub is in the middle of the room.

Fortunately, this did not really negatively impact my trip. Easter Island is an incredibly interesting place and worth the trip (although note that everything on the island is super expensive). There aren't more than a couple of hotels on the island in this class, so hopefully they can step up their service to be the same level as the hotel itself and make the hotel worth the price.

Bed: Intermediate firmness without being too hard.
Pillows: Two different pillow types to choose from.
Bedding: Sheets and duvet, clean and crisp.
Daybed: Average quality.

Ocean-view room: Well appointed with sliding door facing the water. No TV or DVD or music player. No in-room WiFi but can connect with ether cable which is free. Free WiFi in common areas or slow to average speed. Shower was very nice. A separate bathtub is fairly centrally located in the room and is not private. Commode private and separate from these. In-room coffee/tea with Nespresso-type coffees.

Restaurants: The food was very good. Service was spotty ... possibly related to "soft opening" and hopefully will improve to match the food quality. Breakfast options somewhat limited but of good quality.

Transport: Free pickup and dropoff at airport.

Activities: Bike and car rentals easy to arrange.

This is the most centrally located of the upscale hotels and is well-located on the edge of town without being directly in town.

We stayed with our family of five in August. The hotel is not officially opening till September, so it was not quite ready. First the good things. Great rooms. Great facilities (pool, spa). Great location (walk to town). The need to improve issues: Some things did not work (A/C and music system). Many bugs were found in room (they need to spray). Service levels were OK, but not at the level of a superior hotel. If they fix the issues, this could be a great hotel.

Nice and recently remodeled hotel simulating old Rapanui homes but with a very modern touch. The room was amazing (style and decoration), spacious and clean. As I visited during the soft opening (US160) the premises seemed a bit empty and cold. Service was good and breakfast was very nice. I would stay again for that price, but not for the 400USD that really costed. I also stayed at Altiplanico and I prefer it over Hangaroa.

Very nice and clean rooms
Friendly staff
Good location
Good price for what you get (soft opening promotions)
Breakfast buffet good

-
Pool not ready yet
Staff is friendly but still.have to learn about service
Food at restaurants could be better

I heard they are having trouble with permits; native people dont like them because they are owned by a foreigner.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights and were aware that it is a soft opening and the hotel will not be totally finished until later this year.

What we liked:
Location is fantastic - overlooking the ocean and a short walk into the village
Our standard room was very large with private patio area facing the sea. The photos on their website do not do it any justice
The bath is a large freestanding black clay bath (much nicer than that sounds!) and the shower and toilet were seperate
The shower was without a doubt one of the best we have ever had in a hotel room
Reception area and breakfast restaurant were both very smart and comfortable with free wifi in both areas
The staff were incredibly friendly although not much English spoken overall
State of the art coffee machine with instant hot water on tap
Lovely pool area
Free cocktail for each resident in the evening.
Fantastic air-con plus fan in the room

What you should know:
Wifi not available in rooms, though internet connection is
Pool currently out of use (awaiting licence)
Tea and coffee sachets in room are chargeable
In room music system only had 4 tracks on it! No TV in rooms
Gardens were being worked on during our stay but generally they were scruffy and full of weeds
The main path down to the room had a large patch of mud on it and this was never cleaned away during the stay
Restaurant was pricey compared to other restaurants on the island.

Overall we had a very enjoyable stay in this hotel and the personnel and the rooms were really lovely. We knew it was a soft opening and are pretty sure that it will soon be a great hotel.
