“Rooms need lots & lots of TLC”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2015 via mobile

Outside perfect, inside not so good. No screens but we had to leave the windows & doors open otherwise we'd suffocate as it was very hot & humid. A fan would've helped. We were eaten alive by mossies but it was the lesser of two evils, we bought spray which sort of helped.
No fridge either. To me this was essential as we could've kept our drinks cold & maybe purchased food to save money. No one told us about paying extra but part of the blame is with our booking agent who should've done better research.
Not worried about TV as it would've been in Spanish & who really needed it anyway.
Beds very hard, pillows soft & small, bathroom door wouldn't shut, musty smell etc...but it was clean.
The grounds, breakfast, location were great but the room seriously let this place down.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights recently and had a great time. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with lush tropical vegetation. A very pleasant place to hang out. Breakfast includes very good coffee, juices, eggs, fruit, and breads. This is a huge value on Easter Island! Staff also is very friendly and helpful. It is a great location because one can walk to the ocean or to the main street in town in 5 minutes. Negatives that could bother some visitors include: no ceiling fans in the rooms, occasional sewer gas smell coming out of sink drain in bathroom, sound of some sort of sump pump kicking on every 2 minutes (this became "white noise"), cockroaches if you don't keep your door/window closed at dusk. I would have preferred to not have these items on which to comment, but after all, it is travel.!

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and had a wonderful experience with the staff (Kim and Enrique were awesome and very helpful). The breakfast is good, and the grounds are gorgeous and very well kept. There are little benches and hammocks tucked away all over so there are many places for you to sit and enjoy the green and flowery gardens and pool area. That's where the compliments end.

Our room was just awful. When we arrived it smelled very musty and damp. We wanted to leave the window open but there is only one window, which is right next to the door, so you can not leave it open when you are out because anyone could just reach in and unlock the door. There is no fan, no ventilation in the bathroom, and no cross ventilation so the room was hot and damp the whole time we were there (they offered to charge us $30 to use the air conditioner, and considering the amount we had already paid, I declined).

On top of that, everything in the room is pretty old and dirty. The matress and pillows were very uncomfortable and the bedspreads were a little smelly. The final straw was the cockroaches. Every day we saw one or two in our room, as well as ants all over the bathroom.

I understand this is a tropical climate and these are some issues that come along with it, but we stayed in another (much cheaper) hotel on the island that had NONE of these problems, and it was a simple, family-run B&B from their home. It's called Kahina Lodge - I highly recommend it and it's a much better value.

Room Tip: Just don't stay here. There are much better and cheaper places in Hanga Roa.

Our family stayed here for several nights and we loved it. It is a hotel that from outside doesn't tell much. But once you are in, you discover the rustic beauty of it. Filled with native sculptures and wood carvings- including wooden posts in our bedroom and in the breakfast area. Breakfast - al fresco- is nice with fresh fruits, real coffee, omelets, fresh kiwi and pineapple juices, ham and cheese and more.

Staff is very friendly. Giving tips and arranging tours. You cannot ask for more.

The hotel has a small swimming pool , hammocks, and deck to soak in the sun. There is even a treehouse for kids!!!

Hotel is well located and if we come back, this is the definite must for a family. Best place to stay!

My girlfriend and I stayed 4 nights at this hotel. What made it for us was Kim in reception, who was always friendly and she could not have done more to help us. Kim organised our tours with Mahinatur [which were top quality].
The breakfast was brilliant and kick started each day.
Our room was simple with a small bathroom and it did the trick, with a safe which is always good to have.
The hotel is in a brilliant location for walking into town or down to the harbour área.
I would stay at this hotel if I am ever fortunate enough to return to Rapa Nui.
Our top tip is to go to the post office over the road to get your passport stamped!
Thanks to Kim and the rest of the team for making our stay so memorable

Centrally located within walking distance of restaurants, shopping and waterfront. Resort has character and atmospheric touches not found at other hotels (garden courtyard, Swiss family Robinson deco, tree house for kids and kids at heart, sunset/star watching deck with lounge chairs.) multi-lingual staff can charm you with great stories, provide excellent recommendations (no guide book required) or set up any excursion that interests you. Stress free activity planning. Hearty and tasty breakfast served in quaint surroundings. Rooms are sparse, but comfortable. You stay here for the charm, friendly staff, and unique atmosphere.

We wondered if anyone would show up at the airport as all of the other hotels were there. We were renting a car (which had showed up as scheduled so we weren't too worried). When we arrived at the hotel they didn't have our reservation & blamed problems with booking.com. In all fairness we had made a change on the number of rooms with booking.com so it was supposed to be a cancellation of one room not all of them. We had a confirmation of the change with us but the owner hadn't forwarded the change to the staff at the hotel so they thought we had cancelled. The manager wasn't there & staff didn't know what to do & no rooms were ready. Manager showed up & arranged for rooms to be cleaned as they had a large tour group that had just left as we were arriving. Tvs don't work & we had problems with air conditioning in a couple of the rooms (we had reserved 3 rooms for our group). First day was strong odor of cleaning supplies but that went away. Manager happily moved one of the rooms so that they would have air conditioning. Rooms are basic but ok for what we needed as we spent most of our time out on the island. Breakfast is basic with minimal change from day to day which was scrambled eggs, cold cut, cheese & fruit. There is a beautiful view of the sunset from the elevated lounge area. The manager did everything she could to make us comfortable & booked us front row seats at the local dance production. We didn't need any tours as we had researched the area, planned our own itenery & had a rental car which worked out well. They were doing remodeling on some of the rooms so some days were noisier during the day which again wasn't an issue for us as we weren't in the rooms. Bottled water was not provided but there are small fridges in the rooms to keep your water (which we purchased at the grocery store) cold. The manager had also advised us on best time of day to exchange our money at the gas station as it is cheaper in the mornings as well as other tips on navigating the island. She was like a great friend by the end of our stay which made up for the bumpy start. Wifi is included.

Room Tip: Some rooms have been remodeled. Make sure your air conditioning works if that is important. Not sure...
