From start to finish my stay here exceeded expectations. Every member of staff was top notch - friendly and welcoming without being over-bearing. The rooms are undoubedly the nicest I have every stayed in and having had the opportunity to have a peek at the penthouse suite during my stay, i would strongly recommend splashing out on this for a special occasion. We ate a beautiful meal in the restuarant and drinks in the fabulous cocktail bar rounded off the evening. The area in which the hotel is located is really lovely and I would recommend a long walk by the river to work off the gorgeous food. Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

The hotel was beautiful. The staff were very friendly - nothing was too much trouble. It was spotless & the food delicious. We would not hesitate to return. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

'Phoned for a reservation, made feel really welcome and arrived that evening, ate in the hotel and had a super meal, met really nice people there and had breakfast next morning. Room super, food so tasty and so well presented. We will be back!

We planned to stay here for two nights after New Year. I had stayed in September and really appreciated the rooms and food but as it was during the nearby Gorsebridge Sports Horse sales and the place was very busy. I therefore chose the hotel to introduce our friends to this part of Ireland. We arrived after a cold afternoons racing at Fairyhouse and on telephoning to book a table for dinner I was informed the restaurant staff had been given the night off as they had been so busy for New Year's Eve. Possibly not the most auspicious start! On checking in I was then told the rooms I had requested were not what we were being allocated but we had been given better ones. I treated this with some scepticism and then complained that I should have been told , on booking that the restaurant was closed. The young man agreed with me and then offered to "rustle up some sirloins or some John Dory" and then showed us up to our rooms which were indeed far better than the two I had rec'ced on my previous stay. Very smart, big beds, big TV big bathrooms and very fresh and clean. We then all proceeded to the bar where the owner enquired as to our health and on hearing of our freezing afternoon followed this up with complimentary mulled wine sent to our rooms as we changed. Dinner in the bar (restaurant closed) was superb and just what we needed. Breakfast the next day was excellent quality and the service was again by members of the family. On our return from dinner in nearby Kilkenny that evening we were once more sucked back into the bar and treated to an atmospheric evening with the female joint owner treating us all to a drink. I have stayed subsequently on business and had exactly the same solicitious treatment. I would not now stay anywhere else when around the area.
