Wow! What a setting! Amazing country hotel & 2 rosette restaurant set in gorgeous rolling hills on the edge of the Peak District only 25 mins from the centre of Sheffield.
Nice decor overlooking a pretty garden. Restaurant serves quite sophisticated Englishy food. Choice of 8 starters and 9 mains. Unusual presentations, starters were good but mains all a bit bland unfortunately.
Early week service was a bit slow to say the least. Only 2 tables but for long periods there were no serving staff in the restaurant No bread offered when we sat down but when we asked it was a really interesting section of home baked rolls. Wine list was good.
Overall a nice evening. I'd recommend for an occasion and go for less adventurous dishes fish & chips and Shoulder of lamb looked good. Location definitely makes it worthwhile!
