We visited Restaurant Teide on our last day and wished we had visited sooner in the holiday. We had a lovely meal with attentive but not intrusive service, an okay view (there was a transit van in the car park which blocked some of the view) but it was lovely to sit outside in the shade of the trees. The food was delicious and great value for money. There was a large table of what seemed to be locals enjoying their lunch under the shade of the cherry trees on a terrace a little higher than we were so I think the view from there would have been better than ours, but we sat where we did through choice so the fact the view was not so good was down to us.
We all had starters and really need to learn that in this area you do not need/require or can manage a starter, I followed this with a local Alpujarran dish of ham, potatoes, pepper, blood sausage (similar to black pudding) and fried egg - delicious! My husband had iberian pork and our daughter also had a pork dish - they both thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The cost of meal with drinks was average for the area; to eat a similar meal in the UK with the view and the service would have been at least double!
We have booked to stay in the area again in 2013 and Restaurant Tiede will be one of the first places we go - cannot recommend highly enough.
