“Average meal......”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

A Saturday night meal. On arrival, our reservation wasnt listed, even though it was only booked the day before. However, there was room for us - so this wasnt a problem.
Their web site shows varied and extensive ALC menu. The menu presented to us had about half the dishes on including Fish and Chips and Bangers and Mash. Neither exactly ALC. We had rump steak which was passable but not particularly special.
Every time the front door opened, we were hit by a blast of cold air as the restaurant in situated at the front of the hotel. This could be fixed by installing over door heater as they have over the bar door.
The restaurant plays back ground music but this was drowned as the bar got busier and the music from a private party travelled through.
On paying, there is no signal for card payment in the restaurant. I was lead through the room with the private party going on and to the bar where they could do the transaction. Left waiting like a lemon in a crowded bar while I waited for receipt.
Had to find out own coats as we left.
Found car had been blocked in their car park. One member of staff was completely disinterested and commented that they cant 'police' the car park. The Manager however was very helpful. By having another car moved we could get out and the manager gave us comp bottle wine for inconvenience. That was a nice gesture.
As for returning to The Highworth in the near future? Probably not. There are plenty of other pubs/restaurants in the out lying area to try. Such a shame though as we are local and would like to support local businesses.

“Dinner on a snowy evening”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013 via mobile

I was in a party of eight who ate at The Highworth on 18th January. The town had pretty much come to a standstill because of the snow but everything in The Highworth was as it should be. We ate from the 'thee courses for two people for £25' menu and all of it was superb with the service very friendly and helpful. When I compared this to a meal I had recently at a Marco Pierre White establishment, there was no comparison - The Highworth won hands-down on every level! It couldn't be faulted. I thoroughly recommend eating here.

“A good restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

An old hotel in Highworth, over modernised for my taste, but a good restaurant and attentive service. Worth that bit extra.

“Dinner at THe Highworth (formerly The Jesmond House)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

A wonderful little Hotel restaurant in Highworth, a real asset to our town, I highly recommend The Highworth for wonderful imaginative cusine at a very fair price, Go and try it your self, if you are on a tight budget go for Weds or Thurs for the limited menu 2 3 course dinners for £25 yes that's for two not each ! You MUST book its very popular, a lovely bar, smart and relaxed, a very comfortable lounge too, all together a great place, don't expect piles of food, just quality NOT quantity ! As it should be.
Enjoy !

“Absolutely super!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

The Highworth is quite simply the best restaurant within Swindon and the wider area. The building is truly beautiful and the decor is both contemporary yet sensitive. The quality of the food is sensational and unrivalled locally. The staff are courteous, professional and attentive and the owner - Adrian - is a true gentleman. We will definitely be back and I cannot recommend it more highly.
