“Very nice spa inside Chateau du Lac”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

I liked the spa as a part of the weekend we booked in the chateau. There is a very elaborate gym also, and in the spa a hammam, sauna, jacuzzi and swimming pool. Not very large, so it gets crowded easily but it was ok when we visited.

“Staff couldn't care less”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

I booked a spa treatment at Martin Spa for my sister and I, as a birthday treat. First impressions were good as we drove around a beautiful lake to the entrance, but things went downhill from there.
The lady on reception didn't bother to show us where anything was. The shared changing room was minuscule, with no toiletries at all, not even soap to wash your hands.
We had chosen a 3 stage treatment - jacuzzi, then scrub then massage. We were plonked into a less than tepid jacuzzi and told to stay there for 10 mins. 20 mins later nobody had returned to our treatment room and we were freezing cold. We tried to drink some green tea from a pot in the room, but it was just for decoration! In the end I had to go all the way out to reception to ask what was going on. After some muttered non-excuses the masseuses returned and we did both have a good massage although the room was cold and there was no music as both were apparently broken...
I am used to having treatments at similarly priced establishments in London and this comes nowhere near the same standard. The staff definitely need some training in customer service, it is laughable!

“superb massage, hopeless staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

This spa is a mixed bag. The facilities are pretty good, but are let down by the unprofessional staff. We had a 'be reborn together' treatment for 2 people. First impression was poor, the woman at the desk couldn't care less, just chucked the locker keys at us and obviously had her mind on other things. However, the loungers in the relaxation room looking out on to the lake, with soothing music and fragrant tea, was gorgeous. Relaxing in the extreme. Things took a turn for the worse with the treatment. Very junior unexperienced girls led us to a 'warm' bath that was verging on cold, no essential oils as advertised, and handed us a cheap cocktail. Bath finished and no staff to be found. We were left shivering in our robes for about 15 mins. My friend had to go searching in the corridors to find someone to see what was going on and bring them to our room. On the plus side, we then had a scrub with bora bora sand and honey massage that were fabulous. The pool and hammam and jacuzzi are small, but there weren't too many people so it didn't feel crowded. On the way out I asked to buy some tea, luckily I noticed the date before I purchased (very out of date). So basically facilities are good, but unfortunately staff are have not been trained to able to deliver the quality of service one would expect from the high prices.

“Uninspired”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2012

Spa area lacks atmosphere, staff made an uninspired impression, pool is just cramped and noisy. We've seen much better at other places.
