“tranquility with STYLE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2010

spent a week at the WHITE house ( its white and its 10 castle gardens ) such wonderful style, such a change to go somewhere that is so elegantly appointed and maintained to a VERY high standard. The children just loved the GAMES ROOM as as for us, the HOT tub located on the upper deck just off the lounge / kitchen was the perfect getaway after a days exploring the wonderful scenery surrounding Loch Tay. Loads to do, places to see - simply a wonderful place to go ....... but make sure you book the WHITE HOUSE if you have youngsters with you ! ( also features a DISABLED LIFT and dedicated PARKING right in front of the front door )

We stay in the Inchadney cottage, and the place was amazing. We were taking a weekend celebration trip with friends. The cottage was the perfect place to be in the hot tub, grill and sit outside looking at the hills surrounding Kenmore. The castles were close and the walking trails were very accessible. I would highly recommend the cottages. We have lived in different countries from our native country for 14 years and have traveled alot. This is by far one of the best places.

We stayed in Inchadney, Castle Gardens in May. Myself, husband, little boy and my parents were bitterly disappointed when we didn't get to Madeira for my mother's 60th birthday celebrations (ash cloud flight cancellations). As an alternative we booked to stay at Mains of Taymouth. The four nights that we stayed went a long way to make up for our disapointment. The house we stayed in was beautiful, a very high standard of accomodation. The fixtures and fittings are of a superior quality and the overall design is stylish and modern with some lovely peices of art. The management were very friendly and couldn't be helpful enough to us- no request was too much trouble. We definitley want to return again, amazingly for such high standard accomodation it is very child friendly.

Most individuals, including myself, would not pick the first part of December as the ideal time to visit Scotland but I did and absolutely loved it. Kenmore on Loch Taymouth was a beautiful spot and I can only imagine how even more beautiful it is during the warmer months. We were able to go hiking in the area and saw some beautiful countryside. An essential part of the enjoyment was staying in the Mains of Taymouth Cottages. We stayed in Inchadney at the Mains which was beautifully appointed and very comfortable. Besides WiFi internet connections there were tons of movies on the media center. Another highlight was the large hot tub out back which we used often. I hope I'll have a chance to go back and enjoy this area and place again!

We initially booked for two nights to start off our holiday (we were going on to aviemore) in the new gallops apartments (ground floor). We enjoyed it so much when we left to go to our accomodation in aviemore it wasn't of the same standard and we quickly phoned mains of taymouth and booked the apartment for another 5 nights! The apartment was beautiful and very homely (though still luxurious), in fact i don't think i've ever settled anywhere quite so much, as i am very fussy about cleanliness and stuff but that was certainly not a problem. The bed was extremely comfortable and the sheets and pillows of high standard. The bathrooms and kitchen were beautifully fitted out and had everything you needed. The extra large patio doors all along the walls in the kitchen and living room were a really fabulous feature. Our dog had an absolute ball as there are plenty of walks close by and plenty of areas for a good run around. We ate in the courtyard restuarant several times which was really nice, the sirloin steak was one of the best i've tasted. We also ate at the kenmore hotel, which was also good, especially sitting by the river in the sunshine, as kenmore is very picturesque. The deli at the courtyard had some good food to take out, my husband and i devoured a locally made large steak pie between us in one sitting it was so delicious. The ice cream is fab too. The staff are also brilliant, when we had a minor accident on the road back from aberfeldy, they couldn't have been more helpful. All in all it was one of our best holidays and we've been to a lot of places. We enjoyed it so much we are going back this weekend already, and taking my parents for an anniversary treat. I can't rate mains of taymouth highly enough, though i hope it doesn't get too popular and i can't get booked up!

My husband and I spent 3 nights in The Bell Tower Cottage at Mains of Taymouth at the end of September 2009. We were fortunate enough to have won this mini-break in a competition, what a fantastic prize! The cottage was immaculately presented and tastefully furnished. There is a small entrance hallway leading to the open-plan living-dining-kitchen area with a wood burning stove as a room divider. There are windows on 2 sides of the living room providing lots of natural light and views towards the forest. A small utility room provides the central heating system and washer-dryer. Upstairs to the 1st floor is the divine bathroom comprising large walk-in shower, sauna-steam room, roll top bath, sink, bidet and wc. On the third floor is the bedroom, a well-proportioned room with a double four-poster bed and views on one side to the forest, and towards the golf course on the other side. There are lots of options for walking and cycling as well as fishing the loch and river Tay. In the village, Kenmore, there are basic provisions including pub, restaurant and small grocery-newsagent shop. Within the Mains of Taymouth Estate there is the Courtyard Restaurant and a deli and gift shop. The food from the deli is delcious. We are hoping to return to Mains of Taymouth next year for another lovely break. This time we'll bring our dog with us - most of the cottages seem to be dog-friendly. I can't speak highly enough of the quality accommodation or the friendliness of the staff and would highly recommend Mains of Taymouth to pretty much anyone - unless you're a hardcore towny and can't survive in such a scenic, unspoilt, idyllic location.

Another glowing report. We are so proud of our accommodation and love to hear that people think the same. The Bell Tower is truly wonderful and much loved by us and our guests. Remember to keep an eye on our web site for offers and of course you will get a returning guest discount next time you book.

We stayed at Calm Waters within the Castle Gardens. There were 6 of us staying here and, for the first time, without kids. For this reason we wanted a spot of R&R in a nice area with good amenities nearby.
For those considering Taymouth for a relaxing break in a beautiful part of Perthshire this is in an ideal position. The accommodation is well laid out with good quality fixtures and fittings. We ate out twice. Once in the Courtyard and the following night at the Kenmore Club across the road. Both to be recommended... Also bring your golf clubs if you fancy a round at the local 9-hole golf course.
No real gripes other than a lack of internet access. We did manage to hook into a network nearby but the signal was so weak to be almost unworkable... unless you stood on the balcony that is!
