“Overpriced Terrible place”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2012

After showing up in Panglao without any reservation, we were stuck in this terrible place. It is so terrible that I don't even know where to start.

Overpriced for disappointing rooms. You think with the price you are paying, they would at least clean your room but they never did. We spent 3 nights there and never did we saw somebody who will knock on our door and offer to clean our rooms.
Dirty. The linens were itchy and there was piles of garbage next to the hotel building. The pool looked nasty as well that my husband refused to swim in it.

The only good thing there is the breakfast which was abundant.

Big place up above on the beach. One section has rooms for its seems up to ten people at a time. Noisy. Nice big pool. Restaurant. There are some rooms next to the pool, these are the best room. Bring your own beach towels, the towels in the room paper thin.. This place has the smallest TV I have ever seen and bad reception. I wont stay there again.

Room Tip: Get one by the pool

i just recently came from Bohol with my honey and we check in at Bohol Divers Resort. It's a plush resort no doubt looking at its exterior.Since its so hot to find other resorts or hotels we took a room that is available. For 1500 you get no hot shower, no television set and not even an air conditioned room. What irk me is not the room really, it's the service...Just because we're Filipino, local tourist without a single blonde hair, the receptionist treated us 2nd class. They were so arrogant at us, unfriendly, and couldnt even show an extra effort to satisfy the needs of their guests!

The more rooms here are very nice, quite large, comfy, good TV with cable. There is no water pressure so you have to use the bucket with the small trickle, so a kind of cold shower. The swimming pools are very nice. The resort is very large compared to others along the beach. The Dive shop is very friendly and gives good trips. There are some cheapo rooms on the side of the resort that are only like 7$ a night, avoid these. they have no air conditioner. It is hard to exchange money at the front desk but no problems really because you can walk up the beach to an ATM. The breakfast and restauarant are very nice. I really think this is one of the nicest low budget Hotels on Alona Beach. You can only do better by staying at Amorita or Alona Tropical.

We were a party of three and I made a rush reservation without checking online. Big mistake! We were a group of three. We stayed in a rundown, dark room with a window opening into a hallway, because the room has no window of its own.

The bathroom shower had no partition, it lacked ventilation (so you know what that means), the bathroom fixtures were inferior, and the bedroom was a horror - thin sheets, thin towels, old decor and stinky rugs, no wifi, and an ancient, worn-out 16" CRT TV with a barely working remote!

We paid P2,300 + P600 for a pull out bed, or P2,700 + 600, I don't remember, and I don't care to, because the entire experience was depressing! They asked us to pay for one night up front plus P500 key deposit. It's no wonder, because you wouldn't want to stay the night if you had a choice.

I think we stayed in what they call the Chateau Rooms. You will see here and on their website that there are NO pictures, and for good reason. The rooms are stuck in the nineties! I asked the concierge lady at the lobby about it, and she said something along the lines of, "Well, the rooms aren't that old...we haven't renovated in maybe five years."

The only thing I can say about this place is that room service is good here. They did clean up the room promptly in the morning and were efficient about it. Breakfast in their cafe area facing the beach was actually pleasant, because that area of the resort is newly renovated. Not much selection (an egg station, a local sausage and dried fish breakfast, cereal and toast + jam, cut up fruit), but breakfast is serviceable - it's NOT bad, unlike what some people are saying. The coffee station isn't great - it's all instant mixes.

Location isn't bad either...people say it's far from the action, but the "action" is in a noisy, overcrowded area, and Alona is not a very big beach. Bohol Divers is located in a good spot in my opinion.

My parents were so uncomfortable because the bathroom looked so unsanitary. We moved out the next morning! I know they have much better rooms, and they're better off offering those instead of the ones they put us in!

What a shame for a dive resort in Alona. It was a complete rip-off. I would have only paid maybe half of what they charged us for the experience.

Room Tip: If you have to get a room here, try the Beachfront Villas, which I think they call Chalets.

We arrived late and it was raining. The staff was very arrogant. We booked a executive room for 1800 pesos. Breakfast was included. The room was a horror. The floor was painted several years ago. The cubbord almost fell over us. The smell in the room was not nice! We managed to stay over the night. The next morning we checked out and found a room at Lost horizon annex. New built and very nice for 1595 pesos. We will nerver ever stay at Bohol diver resort again. The manager should think about replace the hole staff. We travel a lot and this hotel was really a bad experience.

My family and I have stayed at Bohol Divers Lodge 10 times in the past 11 years, we visit the Philippines several times per year. We have recently built a home about1k from Alona Beach.I'm amused that most of these reviews are written by the same person , as can be told by the writing and format. Folks when you go to the Philippines there are No Hampton Inns, it's a 3rd world country.
The rooms are as nice as any on Alona Beach with several different price ranges, from a backpackers room to more expensive rooms. Yes there are sometines water problems on the Island as evidenced by water tankers tearing up the roads daily. We solved the problem with a drilled well and a generator, much easier than complaining to the municipal water commission.
The staff is very nice sheets and towels above average for a 3rd world country and some food os very good. Don't expect Pizza Hut Pizza in the Pines 95% is very sweet as is the sphagetti in the philippines. I read some of the bad reviews from Filipinos from Pasay and Cebu which are hell holes compared to Bohol , is there something I missed while living in Manila and Cebu ?
The two swimming pools are very well kept and if you don't like the prices at Bohol Divers walk up the Beach my favorite Bar is the Oops bar at the far end of the Beach. Food in the Philippines is much different than the US or Europe , our palate is much different.
But if you want beauty and world class scuba diving stay on Alona Beach, Bohol. Some people complain about all the boats in the bay duuhh how would you like to get the divers to all the adjoining islands by Submarine ?
If you want a nice vacation check out Alona Beach and Bohol Divers Lodge both are as expected and very nice.
