My family and I recently travelled to Panglao, Philippines and resided at Eskaya Resort for our little trip.
The place was completely satisfying, with the rooms beautifully and neatly kept. The staff were extremely inviting, as noted during their warm welcome, where a handful of staff members lined up in a row, ready to greet us with their brightly lit smiles and fragrant flower garlands. We were even given a personal butler who provided us with fantastic service.
The restaurant had a variety of delicacies and judging from what I had tasted during my stay, I can honestly say they did a pretty good job in whipping up dishes from different cultures including western, japanese, korean, and of course, their very own filipino specialties. Dinner on the beach, next to the pool or with the use of the barbecue pit can also be arranged.
Though there wasn't much to do in the resort, the family villa which we stayed in provided us with our own pool, a jacuzzi in each room, two kayaks (one 1-seater & one 2-seater), a pedal boat and jetski, all of which we made full use of. I understand from the hotel staff that mountain biking can also be arranged, along with other tours around the island (such as the chocolate hills, old church, tarsiers, loboc river etc.) However, as this was not our first time, we did not see the need to revisit these sites. Instead, we decided to take up an open water diving course which would certify us with an open water diving license. This means that we are able to dive in other resorts, as a license is mostly required, unless of course an instructor is present to teach you and help you obtain the license. Also, with the license, we are now allowed to further enhance our skills if we wish to, and move on to the next levels of diving. If you are interested, I fully recommend that you seriously consider taking up the course. We were very fortunate to have Mr Yanick Epitalon, the owner and instructor at Sunrise Reef Divers inc., (located in a super short walking distance along the beach) who did an excellent job at coaching us. Lessons with him can be arranged through contacting eskaya or if you wish, him directly. Apart from this, there is also a garden named Tarsier Botanika 5 min away from the resort, sitting on 9 hectares of land, and comprising of animals, plant life and a beach view restaurant with pretty good food. (Their apparently launching their very own hotel next year!) Finally, you can also book an appointment at the spa if you wish too - beautiful but nothing out of the ordinary!
Anway, overall, eskaya is a beautiful place to stay with things to see and places to go. I hope you enjoy your trip if you're planning on going there!
