“Cliff-Side Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2009

Me and my wife were fortunate enough to spend a few days and nights at Amorita during our vacation in the Southern Philippines.

The booking process was a little tedious, but after several emails and a few phone calls we were able to reserve an Ocean View Villa with the DIVErsion and ROMANCE packages.

Upon arrival in Bohol, we were warmly met by the resort van, and two resort employees who were informative, curteous, and professional. Arriving at the resort, we were met my a very friendly front desk staff, and an excellent welcome refreshment (which I think was some sort of Chocolate-Bubble Tea). Through-out our stay, the staff was very pleasant and professional; every staff member made an effort to remember your name.

Our Ocean Villa was absolutely incredible, and well worth the money. The furnishing were fairly new, and comfortable. We did find that our toilet seat was broken, but after informing the front desk it was replaced with-in 15 minutes! The infinity pool was rather chilly, but still nice at the end of a long day.

Our package(s) included massages, which we had by the inifinity pool in the evening, dolphin watching (which included our choice of boxed breakfast sandwhiches and fruit), and my wife had a chance to get two great dives in.

Additionally, our packages came up not one but three meals other breakfast. We had both of our dinners "cliff-side," which I highly recommend. Be aware that the inclusive dinners are set meals, so ask ahead of time what the chef has planned for the evening. Any meals you do have to pay for are fairly cheap, and all are very tasty. I even had some wonderful Chicken Adobo off the breakfast fast-order menu.

Our stay at Amorita was by far the best stay we had ever had at any resort, hotel, or inn. In fact, we plan to return in February, and stay for about twice as long as before.

We just had a memorable 4-day family vacation in Bohol. We stayed at Amorita Resort. We loved Amorita Resort-- its cleanliness, spaciousness, good food!, and the personalized service offered by each of the staff. We felt really pampered. One setback of the resort though is that it is located on a cliff and you'd have to go down some steps before reaching the beach front which is a bit pebbly.
Bohol is truly a unique and enjoyable vacation place. We enjoyed the varied activities it offered-- aside from the beach and the infinity pool, we loved dolphin watching, snorkeling at a marine preserve, taking photos at Virgin Forest Island, viewing the beautiful Chocolate Hills, seeing the almost extinct tarsier, crossing the exciting hanging bridge, cruising the Loboc River while having a buffet lunch, and last but not the least, we loved the romantic evening Lo-ay Firefly Cruise where we saw thousands of fireflies amidst the mangroves like twinkling Christmas trees! It was awesome!
If you want to take the dophin watching/snorkeling/Virgin Forest boat tour package, I suggest you hire your own boatman. Also, hire your own van/driver for your city tour. Resorts would charge you around 3x more. We were vere happy with our boatman who was very helpful and even directed and took most of our underwater photos for us. You can email me and I will give you his mobile number. I can also recommend a good van/driver.
Have fun at Bohol! You won't regret it!

Stayed at Amorita for 3N 4D. That's 8 adults and 9 kids all in all in 5 rooms. The excellent service started with the booking office. Shari was very pleasant to deal with since Day 1. The drivers and staff were all very courteous, patient and attentive.

We had most of our meals in the resort and have nothing but praises for the dining room staff. Prices were quite reasonable. Tip: Order ahead, especially if you have kids. I ordered dinner at 5 pm and told them we were dining at 6:30 pm. It saved a lot of fidgeting in the dining room.

The view was great from the lounge chairs by the pool and the deck. We could have spent a few hours there if we didn't have to babysit the kids.

The rooms were spacious and cool. Having two queen beds was a welcome change for families like ours who have small kids. No more squeezing into 2 twin beds.

On our last evening, we ordered lechon (the traditional Filipino party fare - roasted pig) and had a private dinner by the deck. Having yummy food in a beautiful setting was a perfect way to end our short stint in paradise.

We'll be back!!

There were 13 of us who traveled to Bohol, 9 of us decided to stay at Amorita (including myself). It was more expensive than the nearby resort where others decided to stay. I was very impressed with Amorita. The place was very nice, well maintained and not crowded. Infinity pool was awesome. Great for kids and adult. Their staff were very warm, polite and really made us feel so special - from reservation office to front desk to resto staff to security guards. I couldn't ask for more. Their lifeguard (Edward) entertained my kids in the pool with his games, which the kids enjoyed. Food was great too. You might think it's expensive but the experience would tell you that you made the right choice. No bad experience at all and I will definitely save up to come back.

Some suggestions to make the place even better:
- gym
- billiard/pool table

I will highly recommend Amorita Resort (website is http://www.amoritaresort.com/). I liked that the service is very good and attentive, we got the villa suite which has it's own private pool. The Ocean View Villa was fully booked during our stay but we enjoyed our stay in the Garden Villa Suite because it has more privacy, the ocean view villa although has a better view because you can look out to the sea, is quite open and people passing by in the garden area can look into your room unlike the Garden View Villa which has the same facilities but have plants to offer privacy. The resort is also attached to the beach area but the security is very good so the people offering boats/massage service from the beach cannot access the resort or talk to you while you are enjoying a quite time, very good privacy. The villa suites also have aside from your own small pool an outside shower area, very comfortable. It is the service of the team in Amorita that is worthwhile to return to.
For the tours & transfer in, I will recommend Ms Lillet who I found through Trip Advisor's forum (mobile number: +63 917 304 2385 and email angelberttours@yahoo.com) they offer personalized/professional & very friendly service and their rates are half of the hotel.
These are my recommendations for the tours: Chocolate hills, Tarsier (smallest monkey in the world), Firefly night river tour (see thousands of firelfies in 15 trees it is like a natural Christmas Tree, it is so moving, I had goosebumps just looking at the trees full of fireflies, a real nature treat).
We will return to Bohol, just to see the fireflies and new found friends, Amoria and Ms Lillet.

When we decided to go to Bohol we looked up Tripadvisor and Amorita had the best reviews so we decided to book it but there were no vacancies so we booked it through Asiarooms.
When we arrived they gave us a usual deluxe room and since it was cheaper than what we paid we asked them to give us a villa. They couldn't accommodate us during the weekend but then gave us a ocean view villa.
Our villa had our private infinity pool and a great view. Actually the best view cos some of ocean view villas have trees in front and block the view.
Eating in the hotel was pretty cheap (that was a huge and pleasant surprise) and the food was very good. I think our restaurant was one of the best on the whole beach area.
Location of the hotel is great because it is the first hotel on the beach and it's on the cliff. It's very well guarded so no strangers can come in.
Service was extremely and extremely nice. They knew us by our names, always smiling and being so friendly. Even brought us some cookies one night as a treat.
That was by far one of my best resort experiences.

There is a resort right next to Amorita - Alona Tropical Beach Resort which some people are boycotting because there was a dog which always was walking on their territory from the neighbouring resort so the security of Alona shoot the dog. Their territory is not guarded and anyone can come in. We were initially going to Amarela (because there were no vacancies in Amarita - we went during Filippino holiday so it was very busy) and it seems to be good too but it's a bit far from the beach and on the hill.

Eskaya is the most expensive resort on the island. We've never got to go there so I have no idea as to how good it is. If you don't go with many people - it's not very economical since the villas are huge.

All of the resorts are quite far from Tagbilaran (about 30 min on the scooter) so if you plan to go into town for some reason it's not that convenient but there is one resort - PINR (Panglao Island Nature Resort) which is the first resort on the island on the way from the town - it's only like 1 mins away and they have bus services.

We flew directly to Tagbilaran from Manila but to Donsol we flew from Cebu where we took a ferry from Tagbilaran. It's only a short ride and there is a TV on board so quite entertaining.

Sorry that feedback is not only one Amorita. Hope this is helpful.
