“Comfortable Stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

Location
- offer peace and privacy away from the busy beach but near enough that you can get to it by going down a short flight of stairs.

View
- excellent view overlooking the beach & water
- best view by the pool. Pool can get busy at sunset, Book your place early.
- some tables at the restaurant also have good view of the beach

Service -
- Welcoming smiles and very relaxed atmosphere.
- Nobody knows our name except the person who picked us up at the ferry terminal and the person who checked us in.
- Left the "please clean room" sign out at 5.30am & returned after 2pm but the room was still not cleaned
- Dont expect too much bubbles from your cold jacuzzi
- no internet during my stay as service was affected by typhoon.

Breakfast
- good variety for buffet breakfast
- very happy that they had my packed breakfast of small sandwich, fruits & water ready to go for my boat trip at 5.15am

Hi-Tea
- 1 type of local desert offered at 3pm with tea or water. Do not expect a spread of cut cucumber sandwiches, pastries or fruits.

Lunch & Dinner
- Did not eat lunch or dinner at the resort. Ate at the many little outlets on or near the beach.

Spa
- only in room massage service at P800 - P900 per massage
- your alternative is the cheap massage readily available on the beach at half the price

Dive Shop
- excellent dive shop & dive pool.
- new gears and equipments only 2 months old.

Day Tour & Boat Trip
- Did not book the tour & trip with the resort.
- If you take a walk on the beach, there are many who will offer you day tours and boat trips. Its good to bargain and compare.

Room Tip: The Ocean Villas in the middle away from the restaurant,on one end and the contruction on the other.

Enjoyed our stay and had a heart whelming service from staff! Value for money is Ok though we grabbed their package rate incl city tour. Food was also good but quite expensive. Will surely go back to Amorita if time will permits.

Underwhelming for a resort that's rated #1 on tripadvisor. But as we don't have a comparison stay at other resorts in Bohol, we can only compare it with other resorts around Asia and other parts of the Philippines.

Firstly I have to say that their service is impeccable - from the moment I made inqueries through to booking and throughout our stay. The staff were warm and friendly, one of the best we've
experienced. One blip on the service though - housekeeping dropped my earrings and broke one of them - irreplacable as it was a gift from Brazil. Accidents happen but the disappointing thing was that instead of leaving us a note to aplogize, I found the earrings hidden in a corner of the bathroom.  We didnt end up complaining as nothing could be done to replace the earrings and the staff overall had been very friendly and helpful.

The resort itself was pretty decent with nice furniture; however the showers had weak water pressure and tolietries weren't replenished on a daily basis. The towels were thin and looked worn out. The pool is pretty small and it was always dirty - insects and flies floating around and bit of black stuff (more insects?) at the bottom of the pool. Pool towels weren't proper pool towels, more like bath towels but stained pretty badly. i was given a towel with plently of orange spots - and ended up putting my sarong over it.

The in room complimentary masage was average, more of a rub rather than a proper massage.  The buffet was average - pretty small spread and the food wasn't very hot, more like lukewarm. The scrambled eggs & omelettes from the egg station were also pretty oily.  However, the food from the kitchen when we had lunch/ dinner was pretty decent, though the portions were a bit small. Again, the wait staff had excellent service.

Overall, not the best resort but not the worst we've stayed in. However given the hotel rates, I expected much better for what we paid.

Came in, they welcome you with a drink. The check-in front desk area is very small, and very busy when more people come in. We got here like at around 1pm and the room wasn't ready. We were told the room would fit 4 adults, I was travelling with my parents and our one family friend. They put us in a deluxe room which was tight with 2 queen beds all the way in a corner. My father and friend complained to the manager as they were told fits 4 and then the excuses that there were no available rooms, but the place was empty. After more pushing we were upgraded to a Ocean Villa room which we had to wait forever for them to prepare.

The Ocean Villa room which has a king size bed, a side couch/bad and they brought us a cot. The bungalow is nice has a bath/jacuzzi like bath outside, a deck and some chairs. The room has a high ceiling with a ceiling fan. Roomy, the bathroom is sort of outside as the shower and toilet go to an open ceiling area. Although the concept may seem nice as you shower sort of outside, you are welcomed with mosquitos and insects while you are on the toilet....NOT A GOOD DESIGN. Cable TV stinks, snow on all stations, and remote didn't work even with new batteries. Also Wifi was sketchy, it worked in the restaurant but in the rooms it worked some of the time. Not acceptable, you need WiFI everywhere with consistent connections. They tried some excuse about the weather but it was sunny outside, made no sense.

Restaurant, food takes FOREVER and overpriced compared to othere restaurants. Servers are polite but the food isn't that great and you are better off walking on the beach to a nearby restaurant at another resort. The pool is good, however not enough cabana chairs. They are takin up by some family, they need more beach chairs. I guess you have to go on the beach which has a nice entrance.

All in all I would look for a better resort, I was not impressed by the facilities nor the food for the price you pay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to the restaurant.

We stayed at Amorita for 3N/4D at the beginning of the month. We paid around £240 p/n and expected luxury in our ocean villa with plunge pool.

Staff were very friendly and courteous as everyone in Philippines is. Beautiful.

We arrived at 10am and had a swift transfer arranged by the rep at the airport. We sat around in the hotel reception for 30 minutes waiting to get checked in only to be told our room would not be available until 2pm. It was odd and we felt wrong to immediately be asked to pay the remaining 50% balance. I've never been greeted like this before, "you pay now". What happened to credit card pre-authorisation?

We were shown to a resting room where there were loungers, with wet used flannels on them and a TV, essentially it was a TV room.

At the premium price we paid we expected more, but just waited tired and in this uncomfortable room eating into our day.

A young lad, I'm sorry I can't remember his name was running around and attending to many guests at once, after some polite pleading we were allowed to shower up in a garden villa, which we were thankful for after flights from Bangkok.

We returned to reception at 1pm as instructed and it was like Piccadilly Circus. We sat and waited and waited. Eventually one of the managers apologised saying they had many guests checking out and saw that one of the staff attended to us and we were transferred to our room. I was wowed by the view but not so by the plunge pool, it was tiny with bugs floating in it and it's really not worth the upgrade compared to the garden villa and with such a beautiful pristine beach downstairs!

Service was great in the restaurant. The restaurant itself is rather basic. Food was great. Generous portions.

Our massage on the villa terrace was the best ever. The spa is undergoing construction so treatments are in room.

The hotel grounds are very nice. It's in a prime location on the beach, but there are other lovely properties on the beach too - you will spend most of your time on this pristine beach so you should only worry about a clean bed. Service is top notch in the Philippines anyway so you don't have to pay a premium for it.

Wifi is slow away from reception.

The beach is beautiful with little shacks reminding us of how Koh Samui was some 20 years ago. All the locals are very polite and friendly. Great food. We had some great massages on the beach for PHP250.

We had the unforgettable experience of the typhoon coming in. I felt that the hotel should offer some kind of drill as a typhoon is new to many of us and I for one was scared.

We were charged 15PHP x 2 for reception to print 2 pages which isn't right for guests paying such a premium to stay at this property.

We chose Amorita because it was our first time ever to The Philipiines and we were apprehensive and felt we would be safe and indulge in luxury at this rate - we were so wrong.

We had a nice stay, but Amorita is expensive and not value for money for what we got.

The location on Alona Beach is ideal for a romantic getaway. We wanted to get an ocean view villa but these were all booked. We settled for the garden villa and we were not disappointed. It had its own plunge pool, beautiful bed and pillows and an outdoor bathroom.

The resort is on a cliff a few steps away from the beautiful white soft sanded beach. It was sad that the shore was full of boats waiting for passengers so swimming was not really a good option. The infinity pool by the restaurant was well maintained and had a great view. It was great to use by day and by night. We were told that there was an island we could go to for whale/dolphin watching, diving and swimming.

The service in Amorita was incredible. The staff were all friendly, helpful and efficient. The food was great. They had an outstanding breakfast buffet with the best scrambled eggs. Dinner and lunch choices were also first class although a bit pricey.

Try to take home the homemade jams from the gift shop. They come in different unique flavors in a pretty box. They also offer tours around Bohol.

Room Tip: Choose the ocean view room if available
