“Tropical stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

We enjoyed it very much. Its a quiet place. Feels safe. Only the swimmingpool is under construction at that moment. We eat a few times in the restaurant, where they have really good food. Sometimes there is live music. Quiet gitarplayer, very good. The staff is very helpfull.

We spent in Alona Tropical Beach Resort 3 nights and were dissapointed. It wasn't horrible, but for sure it was the weakest accomodation we had during our visit in Philippines.
Rooms are nice, resort has access to the beach, but - it's in renovation, so at 8 AM you'll be wake up by construction work at the swimming pool (yes - the swimming pool is not working) or by construction work in the restaurant. You pay for the room with hot shower and for 3 days we didn't have even a warm water ! It would be fine if we would pay as for the room with only cold water ! We complain about the water at the front desk couple times and every time we were told that someone will come and fix it - someone never came... We've been accomodated in 2 different rooms, in 2 parts of the resort and didn't have hot water in any of them.

Room Tip: Take a room far from construction works.

I was in Alona Beach last week with my family and i enjoy my stay in this amazing place. We booked for our stay Alona Tropical Beach resort. We were so happy about the location, the rooms, the restaurant and food and also for part of the staff (friendly and available).
My review can be easily 5 stars, but i think something can be improved in this resort in terms of communications. We paid the room in advance and they billed to us on the day of check out. We were wasting a lot of time to proof with receipts, emails and so on that the room bill was settle 1 month before our arrival. At the end, they acknowledged and everything was fine, but as i said to much time wasted for the miss-communications between front office and reservation. If you planning to go to Panglao Island, i recommend Alona Tropical beach Resort.

Just arrived back from Bohol. I booked our accommodation in advance and was given a poolside suite. We walked in to the hotel with my 1 and 3 years kids and to my astonishment, the pool was under renovation. No one had ever mentioned it before when I made the reservation. As I had promised my kids they could swim in the pool, we decided to go to another hotel. Ended up in Alona Kew White Beach resort - the location was much better, too, in the middle of everything, no mosquitoes, highly recommended.

We came to this hotel with no booking, just walked up. Unfortunately the pool was under construction and they were also renovating the restaurant. I was hoping this would get us a discount but no go. We paid $2980 for AC room very near to the sand and water. Breakfast was not included. The staff were very friendly and the head cleaning lady of our area was very nice and welcoming. There are a lot of mosquitos but just bring bug spray. The rooms are a bit musty smelling but overall comfortable. The wifi didn't reach our room so we did have to go to the bar or restaurant to check email.
Overall, we left relaxed.

Room Tip: We stayed in room #8 and #9. Quite close to the beach compared to other rooms.

I was disappointed with the size of our room and their facility. Upon booking our accommodation the staff reassured us that the room had hot and cold water and the pool was available. However when we got there, there was no hot water so we had to use cold water to shower everyday through out our Stay. The swimming pool was being renovated. The toilet did not flush a couple of times during our stay and on our last day the shower did not work at all. The wifi was not available in our room so each time we wanted to use our Internet we had to go up the hill to the reception area. The staff however were pleasant and assertive. Overall Alona Tropical is not good value for money.

Good Value for the location. There were mosquitoes when we first came but they disappeared after the air-con has been on for a while. My cousins had to move to another room because their A/C is not working. You'll really feel like you're on a beach vacation because of the rooms though(My parents stayed at amorita but I feel like this is the real deal!). Staff were very accommodating, I had to check-in for my flight and they let me use their office computer to do that and print the boarding pass. I would stay here again if given a chance.
