“can spend hours playing on the sand bar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

Just a stroll along the looong sand bar is such an experience to appreciate the beauty of the blue sky, the random starfishes, a variety of colorful urchin shells.

Was not able to swim because of the seaweeds visible along the shore.

A great place to play, take photos and just get amazed with this great island.

Upon arrival, we tried fresh sea urchin roe. Which is quite good :) Not so many people around during 8-9 am in the island. You get to feel that you have the whole island to yourselves.
Before heading back to our place, we had a fresh coconut juice and banana Q. Simple yet so satisfying snack shared together. :)

Warning: many sea urchins along the shore, please wear water shoes in the water.

“somewhat nice though not as picturesque as before”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

one of the reasons I went to Bohol was to get an iconic picture of this island with its sandbar. When I got there, what I saw was that the sandbar was already scattered with vendors. Boats ferrying tourists were blocking the view of the sandbar. Lots of seagrass and thrash on the shores with nobody bothering to clean it up. You could not go to the center of the island as it was fenced up and there is a sign saying it was private property. You could still get a decent picture for a postcard but you would have to try to block out the boats, vendors and unsightly structures on the island. Some of the vendors were also quite pushy while trying to sell their pearl necklaces. I did not see any public toilets on the island probably because the owners do not want people there.
Remember to check the weather for the best time to go to this island since the winds, tides and the sunlight dictate when you can go and what you will see.
I hope the locals earning their living from tourists wanting to see this island would realize that tourists like me would not continue paying for island hopping tours if the destination was dirty and unkempt.

“Great place to Relax”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

We rented a private banca and came here after Balicasag island. After snorkeling in Balicasag, this is a great place to relax and chat with the locals that sell Banana Q and fresh coconut. I'm not sure about pearl sellers if the pearl is real or not. On a great sunny day this sand bar is relaxing and the water is calm. You can just spend a good hour to this place and wait for the tide to rise.

“Nature at its' finest”

You can walk the entire white sand beach around the island in 30 minutes. Great swimming and snorkeling. Very beautiful. You reach it by taking a native boat

“Worth a visit - beautiful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

V beautiful, but only worth stopping at briefly for photos and walking around. Can't really swim or snorkel from the Island. Not a patch on Balicasag.

FYI - we saw a sign on Virgin Island saying it was private property!
