“All you need to know!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

This was my first time at the Illa D'or despite my family coming year after year. Upon arrival i was speedily taken to my room which was recently refurbished and in a wonderful condition. The bed was large with a rather grand wardrobe! I had a plasma screen, two sinks, a wonderful bathroom and lovely little towel robes to relax in after a shower. Breakfast was lovely with a vast amount to chose from and it catered for everyone. I ate in the hotel restaurant twice and found the food very nice but being a fussy eater did sometimes struggle but that is through my own personal food issues (you couldn't blame the hard working chef's!). The waiters will do anything and everything for you and are always on hand! Drinks are a little pricey but so is the hotel - you defiantly pay for the standard and this hotel should be 5*! You can hire bikes from the hotel and we did so and cycled all the way round to Alcudia and back. We also hired a boat (having three members of my party with boat licenses) and we spent a luxurious day on that. The town is a 5-10 minute walk and it consists of pedalo hire (very fun), many bars and restaurants and a local spar shop in which you can buy home-made baguettes and food which are delicious. Through the hotel you have your own private sun terrace in which sunbeds are released at 9am and you have a lovely, quiet and not too crowded view all day! The hotel also has a pool which isn't very big (mainly the reason it is rarely used) but is okay if you wanted to cool down when not in the sea. The sea water is lovely and warm and for a non-lover of sea water, I was always perfectly comfortable in it as it is extremely clear and not very deep for a while out! (Great for kids). The hotel also has a gym, indoor pool and jacuzzi, salon and beauty spa. I did not use these facilities but i'm sure they are up to the Illa D'or standard. Some restaurants and bars i suggest in town are: Dakota's tex mex (the food is delectable), The lemon bar (picturesque and a lovely atmosphere) Bony's bar (quirky and entertaining) The indian tucked away behind the back streets! (hidden but well worth the find, amazing food!!) and finally chiva's for the over 18's (an excellent nightclub!). The hotel is about a 45 minute taxi ride from Palma airport. This hotel is a wonderfully run and well looked after luxurious place to go. Great for all ages and those who like to relax and take things gently.

Just back from a week at the Illa D'Or and loved it. The location is great and the staff were all lovely. Loved the bar at the waters edge for chilling at the end of the day.

However............the first room we were given was a great location overlooking the pool and looking directly out to the bay but the beds were dreadful. Arriving in the wee small hours of the morning and finding that the beds were so bad was so disappointing. Unfortunately we didn't see the Thompson Rep until Sunday (arrived 0300 Saturday) and we couldn't be moved until the Tuesday. The second room was much, much better. We found it hard to understand how a 4/5 star hotel can have beds quite that bad. To give them credit, they are updating the rooms (one of which we had Tuesday onwards) but they badly need to change the beds in the older rooms - the décor is really not that much an issue.

This was deliberately not a cheap holiday because we wanted some comfort so that was a disappointment for us.

However, the food was very good. Breakfast offered a great choice and all of it was good - freshly squeezed orange juice, yum! Dinners were also good with some "interesting" desserts!! Dining room staff were all great.

First time for us in Mallorca but loved the chilled atmosphere in Pollensa. No hassle from people trying to get you into their bar/restaurant. Found a couple of lovely bars (Hibiscus & Coral) for beers & Tapas - both very friendly and welcoming.

We will be back and are considering the Illa D'Or appartments which looked good or maybe something along the Pine Walk.

Room Tip: Make sure you get one of the refurbished rooms because as of August 2013 there are some older rooms...

We moved to the Illa D'Or from another hotel, which shall remain nameless for now (until we have attempted to get some recompense from the Management of said hotel). We literally walked in off the street desperate to find a good hotel and the reception team were wonderful and so helpful. We immediately checked into a Sea View with a very large terrace which we could have for 2 nights (room 117) and then moved for the final 3 nights due to 117 being previously booked to room 208, also sea view with a medium sized balcony. The Illa D'Or is charming and elegant. The old photos around the walls of the hotel clearly show how it has a lovely history too. The service from all their staff was excellent and friendly. The cocktails were excellent as was the very fresh and well presented breakfast buffet. It's position and views are spectacular. It is probably the best hotel in this resort, and if I go back to Pollenca I would definitely stay here again. However, there are a few things remiss considering the hefty room B&B cost for 270 Euros per night: There was no Cava at breakfast, the rooms (both of them) were very small for 2 single ladies and 2 suitcases, I had to balance my suitcase on the coffee table and wedge it in the corner. The pool and beach front areas are small and so limited for sun bed space, and it was difficult to get 2 sun loungers together and yes as per the previous reviewer too many people reserve their beds and then disappear for several hours! But all in all, as the staff were so lovely, and the hotel very elegantly appointed and the setting so beautiful I would recommend it very highly if you can afford the price tag.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 1st floor at the front as they have very large terraces with 2 sun loungers an...

A lovely hotel in a wonderful setting. Located at the end of the Pine Walk, this hotel is set very close to the beach. An indoor and outdoor pool as well as indoor and outdoor eating. Dining room staff are very friendly and attentative.

The bedroom and bathroom are of a high standard and very clean.

As for location, it is approx a 20 minute walk to the main area of Peurto Pollenca, much needed after dinner at the hotel.

One slight downside, it is worth remembering that the last flight out of Majorca is at 11:00pm - this means that you need to leave the hotel at 8pm. You have to be out of your room by 12pm. Very advisable to book a courtesy room or late check out.

Would I book to stay here again? Most definetly!

Room Tip: We had room 222, next to the gym. Balcony overlooking the pool with a sea view.

Just returned from two weeks at the Illa d'or, we stayed in the club illa d'or apartments, travelling with two young children. This was our second time at the apartments and once again the quality of accommodation and service from the staff was excellent.

The rooms are of a really high standard, kept immaculately clean by the daily maid service and the pool area has a sufficient number of loungers to ensure you can relax knowing you won't have to get up too early on your holiday to reserve a space, as you would perhaps need to at other apartments / hotels. In fact it was really pleasing to see the pool attendants proactively managing the pool / sun terrace areas to ensure fairness for all!

We used the hotel restaurant on a couple of occasions, finding the standard good and service excellent, we also enjoyed the walk into puerto pollensa (c20 mins) and sampling the food available in the many high quality restaurants and would thoroughly recommend Cellar La Parra for a traditional majorcan experience.

Overall a fantastic holiday, weather scorching, staff excellent and we look forward to returning, highly recommended.

Stayed for a week and loved every second..... The room was superb, great character and lovely personal touches! Breakfast and dinner in 'La Terrassa' was stunning. One thing about the breakfast - fantastic choices and the best orange juice you'll ever get! Beautiful views over the bay in the evening when dinning! After dinner, the Jazz performers were top class, perfect ambience for the evening! Can't wait to go back....... Wonderful staff as always.......

Just returned home after a weeks holiday at Illa D or hotel. We stayed half board which was excellent, lovely to sit and enjoy breakfast by the waters edge.
The hotel is in ideal location there is a lovely walk under the shade of the pine trees to main area.
All the staff were friendly and helpful and the cleanliness of the hotel was exceptional.
The bar at the front was always busy and seemed to be a popular meeting point but the service was still excellent.
We hope to return in the future.
