“great atmosphere and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

this was the first time we stayed at this hotel and we found it to be one of the most pleasant we have stayed at. the location is superb with the beach literally across the path outside which is the beautiful pine walk wi great views across the bay. our room had a sea view balcony and was very well appointed. the breakfast buffet was probably the best I have seen in any hotel I have stayed in with a great selection of fresh fruit, cooked breakfasts and a wide selection of cereals, cheeses and just local delicacies. we had half board and the food in the evening again was of a very high standard with five choices on each course and a strong Spanish flavour. One night there was a Mallorcan themed dinner and flamenco dancing outside. The drinks in the bar which is outside on a terrace right next to the sea were reasonable but the greatest strength of this hotel was the staff who were totally professional but also just very kind and friendly. We stayed for a week in June and it was fair to say that the clientele were almost entirely middle aged and elderly British couples. The evening meal had a really good atmosphere and there is a dress code of no shorts or t shirts which everyone observed but this was not a stuffy place.

Room Tip: best to try and get a sea view balcony

When we were younger and taking family holidays we used to yearn for the day we would be able to afford to stay in the Illa D'Or. In June 2013 the perfect opportunity arose and we could not have been more pleased with our choice. Although we arrived early we were met at reception, our room was ready and we were in the terrace bar for a lunch time drink before noon. To my surprise the waiter would not allow me to add service to the bill, he just wanted the room number and signature. The room was lovely, with a sea view, very quiet, and the breakfast was overwhelming - what a choice! It is a perfect location for ambling into the town, parking is very easy and the standards of the hotel are high - very high.
This will not be our last visit, as we discovered it was nothing like as expensive as we had expected - bed and breakfast was a really good deal.

Room Tip: We had a sea facing room so cannot comment on any others, and you do pay a little more for the front...

this is our second visit to the hotel and it didn`t disappoint. we were travelling with an elderly relative and a wheelchair and the hotel could not do enough for us to make the stay comfortable. our rooms were allocated so as not to involve any extra steps within the hotel, so we were given lovely sea facing rooms with balconies facing the sea. bed and breakfast proved a good choice as there are several very good restaurants in the town and beyond. the staff were always happy to make recommendations and reservations for us. breakfast was very varied and catered for all tastes. this hotel is now on our list of places to return to on a regular basis.

We have been to Illa D'Or several times and not only does it not disappoint it gets better.!

It is very rare that a hotel is actually as good as it looks in a brochure or on line but this one really is an oasis within a wonderful destination.

The staff are very helpful and efficient whether in the the restaurant or the excellent outside bar. The hotel is always clean and the reception staff are always available to assist.

We cannot wait to return.

Just returned from the Illad'or and we can't wait to return. This hotel is stunning, and whilst we love the position, it could be a bit of a walk for some people into the town. We stayed bed and breakfast as we like the flexibility so cannot comment on the evening meals, but the breakfast is extremely good with a very wide choice.

We booked a sea view room and emailed the hotel requesting a balcony. They did their best in offering us a newly refurbished room with a side sea view and balcony, but we had to stand on tiptoes to see the sea. We asked if there was an alternative and we were lucky to be able to move into a suite and pay a small extra charge after four nights. The suite was fantastic overlooking the pool and sea and it was a wonderful experience staying there. The staff at the Illad'or are without exception excellent but we would like to especially thank Emilo on reception who went the extra mile for us. All in all we would recommend this hotel to anyone, it is a gem!

I have been to this hotel five times now and have NEVER had a less than perfect holiday. This year my sister (first time for her) and I enjoyed a newly refurbished sea view room. It was stylishly designed, scrupulously clean and, most importantly, very comfortable. After an extrememely sad winter for both of us it was the perfect antidote to be looked after, served with respect and generally made to feel part of this family run hotel. The food was delicious, both breakfast and dinner and the position in the quiet idyllic bay, absolutely perfect.

Room Tip: The sea view rooms provide the quintessential atmosphere of this small (ish) hotel - if you can get...

We are just back from a 2 week holiday at the Illa d'Or. Like most of the reviews we found the Hotel very good. The ambiance, the setting and the furnishings make this Hotel a little different and special. The views from the Terrace Bar are simply stunning and with the gentle sound of the water it really is perfect. Combined with a generous G and T you can't go wrong. There are slight niggles but everything else makes up for them. Just be precise when you are booking your room, not all balconies have a sea view. We had a standard room at the side of the Hotel. The room was spotless, large and had plenty of storage space. It was not a refurbished room but it was lovely and we became very attached to it. Our son had a single room, whilst it was small it had everything he needed and a small terrace was a bonus. We will certainly return!

Room Tip: Push the boat out and go for a sea view with a balcony.
