“Nice location but everything expensive!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

Set in wonderful grounds this hotel can boast a great location however it is ridiculously expensive. Our room was lovely but small for the price. The evening we arrived we decided to have the buffet dinner in the hotel restaurant as it was a bit late. The food was ok, nothing special, I was gobsmacked when I saw the bill was 140 euros for 2 x buffets and 1 x bottle of average wine!! We did not eat there again. A taxi costs 30 euros return into Pollensa which we did the next night, and the evening still worked out cheaper! The next day we checked out the beach which was beautiful with amazing views, and we settled into the 'Hotel use only' sunbeds only for someone to come round and charge us 20 euros each to sit on them!! I'm surprised there are so many repeat visitors to this hotel, we shall not be returning.

We went there with a tour and therefore did not stay at the hotel, we just stayed at the beach for a few hours.

It is a really natural and quiet place, lovely for a relaxing break for couples and families.

I would not recommend it to groups of friends if they are searching for a crazy/noisy beach tough.

If you love photography, great spot for some pics.

From the moment we arrived late at night to leaving early in the morning 8 days later, the attention to detail shown by all members of staff was outstanding. The hotel location is second to none with superbly manicured gardens, well maintained tennis courts and both the swimming pool and the childrens' pool ideal allowing for both swimmers and young children alike. Unfortunately, the beach was very popular and crowded but not surprising considering the beauty of the setting and the clear water.
The variety of choice and quality of food at both breakfast and dinner was excellent. I note other reviewers have commented on the unruly behaviour of some children, surely this is the domain of the parents and not the hotel staff

Great location. BUT if you are coming here to relax forget it. The hotel seems to have thrown its doors open to young families with no appreciation of other guests. Like the wild west poolside. No rules obeyed about diving , ball games and hyterical screaming.

Already made these points to front desk
But never once saw the manager or got any feel of effective nanagement.
staff having said that were great.

Dropped in for a spot of lunch in the beach bar.

The location is of course delightful, on the beach and in the shade of the pine trees.

The prices are as enthusiastic as you would expect, with a limited menu - but suffice for a couple of lunches.

Friendly staff and the all handy free WIFI make it an ideal break from the beach.

If you enjoy the company of Sirrs Winston Churchill or Peter Ustinov - you should come to Formidor. Very nice and quite place, right for the family retreat. Well-maintained park and the bay nearly perfect for swimming. Very friendly personnel and buffet dinner with lobsters.
Think twice before paying extra for the sea view - from my room on the second floor I could hardly see any water. The humidity in our second room on the third floor was extremely high.
As elsewhere in Spain the disadvantage is no private beach and the public one is relatively narrow and always crowded- everybody wants to enjoy the beauties of Formidor. But you can easily solve the problem, installing at the hotel pool and walking to the sea thru' the part.

The best thing about the hotel is the beautiful location and the well kept grounds. The pool area is stunning and in the Spring when the flowers are in bloom the place looks fantastic. The bedroom was decorated nicely and the bed was comfortable, but there was no balcony which - given the views from the room - was disappointing.
The nearby beach is amazing and the water is crystal clear. Take a wet suit in the winter or early spring though as the water can look tempting but gets quite cold.
Service was very good. The reception staff and bar staff were exceptionally friendly.
A great place for couples or families looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday.
