“Almost Perfect”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

Kastelli-Kissamos is a small working town in the far west of Crete where the locals tend to speak Greek with little concession to English speakers. In recent years it has made efforts to attracted tourists by building a small esplanade on the seafront lined with tavernas and some cocktail bars.
There is an attractive crescent shaped sandy beach within walking distance to the west backed by tavernas and small hotels. The town tends to attract mostly the independent traveller although the tourist side does cater for activity holidays including walking and yoga.
Revekka Rooms is situated in the next parallel street to the esplanade so is ideally placed with regards to the seafront tavernas. It is approximately ten minutes’ walk from the building to the sandy beach and there is a parking area in front that can accommodate approximately six or seven cars.
My partner and I stayed for three weeks at the Ravekka in room 10 which is on the upper floor. It was a spacious room containing two large single beds, a sofa, a fridge and kettle and wardrobe and dressing table. Patio doors opened into a large balcony with views over the houses to the sea. Some reviewers have criticised the near view, but we always found plenty of interest in looking down on to the street to what is after all a working town. Air conditioning, which worked very well, came as standard as it was an upper floor room. The bathroom was fairly large with a flexible shower head in the small shower area.
Bedding and towels were changed frequently and the room and building in general were kept very clean throughout our stay. This was due to Kasia who is in charge of the day to day running of the rooms. Kasia is a small bundle of energy who when not carrying out her cleaning chores will be dealing with arrivals and departures, assisting with problems, advising on local tours and is always the cheerful face at the front desk. Early morning, fitted with her little black wellingtons and armed with her hosepipe she can be seen watering the plants around the building.
The excellent included buffet breakfast was taken at the Cellar Taverna situated on the seafront. As this is one of the best Tavernas in Kastelli-Kissamos it is certainly an important factor when considering the Ravekka Rooms.
Our only complaint was the non-availability of hot water early morning and late evening during the whole of our stay. This we were told was due to problems with the boiler/pipes that are part of the heating system that supplements the solar one. Our holiday was not adversely affected due to our preferred showering times but I can appreciate that this would not be the case with others. It is an area that seriously needs addressing.

Room Tip: The upper floors have air conditioning

Dear guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write your feedback after your recent stay at the Revekka Rooms B&B. I was delighted to read that you were happy with your room and our breakfast and most of all the service you received from our staff. However, please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused with the limited hot water, this is certainly not the service we aim to provide. May we take this opportunity to inform you that all our rooms have now unlimited hot water 24h. We thank you again for your valuable feedback and for your recommendation and look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to our town.

My stay at Revekka exceeded my expectations: everything was as described on their web page (or even better). The rooms are very clean and spacious and Kasia (the housekeeper) does a very good job not only in keeping the B&B run smoothly, but also in being so warm, friendly and helpful to visitors. The breakfast is plentiful, just meters away from the seaside (see photo). Very good price at a good location (strategic for visiting the best beaches of Crete: Falasarana, Balos, etc.).

Suggestions for improvement: add some free-to-air Sat-TV channels (Euronews, CNN, BBC, etc.) since most of foreign guests do not understand Greek.

Revekka was a average hotel. Just wanted to clear up, the hotel is not infront of seaside but rather a few blocks away, so getting a seaview room will not matter as you cannot see the view at all.

Pros:
-Great location to the pier which has great resturants/views
-Near balos, Falassarna beach and about an hour away from elafonisi beach (easy drive)
-Hotels were quite large and clean (Also if you use the Make-up room sign the room is also cleaned daily)
-Near to a little center where restaurants and tourist shops are located

Cons:
Upon arrival (Around 10am) lady told us room was not ready and that we needed to come after 2pm. No problem we went to balos instead. We came back to see the front door was closed. We went to the Cellar (as a sign advised us to go there if no one was at the B&B) and a lady met us and told us that she was expecting us in the morning... This threw us off because shes the one who told us to come after 2pm? Oh well, we got our room and it was 2 twin size beds put together and my husband and I wanted a double for us, however the rooms were fully booked and this was not accommodated. So I guess Communication is a bit lacking as there were many misunderstandings.

Also if you want sleep, I would not recommend this B&B. The walls are extremely thin and we could hear every conversations, door slam, people coming in the middle of the night CLEARLY!

If your given room B then please note internet is poor and rarely works unless you stay by the door.

Also if they can redo the shower that would be great, It was near to impossible not to flood the bathroom since the curtain is just there for decoration and didn't really help prevent the water from leaking out.

Good Locations/price, however I think next time we might choose another option within the same area.

Room Tip: Do not choose room B if you want a quiet sleep or good internet.

Dear guest,

Thank you for taking time to write a review. We were concerned to read that you were not satisfied with your visit. Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused and rest assured that all points raised have been taken into consideration in order to correct any shortcomings. We take customer service and feedback very seriously and try to learn from customers comments.
We can learn much more from comments made directly at the time. We they are made in public I do also have to state the facts in public.

Regarding your arrival and the checking in procedure, please note that we are not a hotel to have a 24h front desk. All the arrivals when the front office is not operating, handling by telephone or from our restaurant "The Cellar".
About the allocation, please note that your reservation from our booking engine was for a Twin Room (2 single beds) and not of a Double Room (double bed), i came immediately to prove this to you with the original reservation voucher.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us at the Revekka Rooms B&B earlier this season while travelling on leisure.

Thank you again for taking the time so share your thoughts with us; we'd be honored to welcome you back again.

We spend a night in revekka s rooms.we found the apartments big enough ,very clean and the stuff very kind.it was very nice of them to have coffee and tea facilities in the room and iron in the word drop .in my opinion they have to change the tv ,because it was very small comparing with the size off the room.the only bad was that in the morning we din t have hot or warm water for our shower.the breakfast at cellar restaurant was very good and the lady very kind.

We were only able to stay at Revekka Rooms for 2 nights but it was worth it. Since we were walk-in guests at 8 in the evening, we weren't sure there would be rooms however we were happily surprised to meet our charming host Kasia who welcomed us with open arms. She gave us a very clean and comfortable room with all mod-cons a backpacker could wish for... and all this for a very reasonable rate.
The Hotel had a promotion with one of the restaurants along the sea front, called the cellar, which made for a very copious meal and a panorama of the bay well worth seeing in the evening.
We ended up staying in Kastelli a second night just because the town and hotel were so relaxing.
Kasia was extremely helpful and was always looking for a chance to make our stay that much better. She made me chuckle by stating that every guest in the hotel was like her little baby and she couldn't help just wanting to take care of us. So we wanted to say a big thank you for your caring nature and leaving us with good memories.

All in all, a quality hotel with a spirited hotel manager Kasia who knows how to make you feel at home.
