“FANTASTIC :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2012

Just spent three nights @ the Crowne Plaza it is such a lovely hotel. The pool is huge. This hotel is in the heart of the Hunter Valley perfect location.

There are two restaurants in this hotel. Breakfast is amazing and you also have the choice of getting omlettes made and can have your eggs in every imaginable way.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Crowne Plaza

This is a lovely hotel, set in beautiful countryside grounds with surrounding golf course. The food at the hotel restaurant is tasty, though on the expensive side. Rooms are nicely laid out, with spacious bathrooms and deep bathtubs. The swimming pool not heated.

The main issue with this hotel is the customer service, or lack therof.

On our final morning we tried to order breakfast twenty minutes before it closed (10.30am) but the line was busy. We opted for a callback service, and when the phone rang to let us know the line was free, it continued to ring out. We tried again and still could not get through. When we eventually did reach a person, they told us breakfast was now closed - 10.25am.

On the morning we did manage to get breakfast, they delivered our breakfast with a pineapple juice that was 4 months beyond its sell-by-date. After finishing with breakfast, we left the tray outside, and it wasn't cleared from the floor for 9 hours or so, despite there being a cleaning service still operating a few doors down. Though we had vacated the room and requested it be cleaned, when we returned, all that had been done was the bed made and a replacement of towels. Glasses from the night before still remained uncleared away, the sides hadn't been wiped down, dirty towels were still in the bathroom and it didn't appear that the bathroom had been cleaned either.

We also tried to book late checkout, were told that we would be called back, but no one from customer service ever did call us back.

All in all this is a lovely hotel, set in a gorgeous part of Australia, but it could use some definite improvement of its customer service.

Centrally located for the Lower Hunter Vineyards, this facility is a great base to explore Hunter Wine Country.
The Golf Course was a little rough in patches & with no map of the layout, a few spare balls are needed.
The Villas are spacious & well appointed, & are to be preferred over the rooms where the cost is similar.
outstanding local vineyards include, Brokenwood, Bimbadgen, First Creek, Draytons, Tyrrells & Scarborough.

In general, the hotel resort itself is great, beautiful golf courses, great swimming pools, complimentary kids club (ie kids friendly), free parking, modern rooms and villas, it is a relaxing place for short getaway. This is a second time we have been here.

However, I think the service needs some improvement.

The hotel was packed for the Labour Day long weekend. We were given 2 double beds instead of 1 King bed as requested. They said that the King Bed requested were overbooked. I was surprised about this given that I was PriorityClub Gold anyway and I would have expected that PC members should get better treatment. We did get late checkout at 12:30pm next day. I also requested Sydney Morning Herald newspaper next morning at checkin as well. However, next morning, no SMH newspaper at my door. So when I gone to breakfast I had to ask them again for the newspaper, and later they deliver it to our door.

Whilst I know they are busy because of the Labour Day long weekend, I do think they need to look after PriorityClub members better.

We had breakfast at Redsalt, it is a standard Crowne Plaza buffet breakfast. Whilst not spectacular but certainly does the job (ie not bad, but not the best). But I strongly suggest to eat breakfast early if anyone else go there during very peak season (long weekends etc) as by 9-11am there were people queuing outside Redsalt as it was already at capacity.

Would I go again? Yes, but I will avoid very busy time as the service level would likely to go down.

Room Tip: Go there when it is not very peak season (ie NSW Public Holiday weekends).

We were travelling as 2 couples and booked a 2 bedrooms villa for 2 nights on the Labour Day long weekend to celebrate our friend's birthday. Upon checking in at 5:30 pm we were told the villa we have booked had some water burst problem so they put us in 2 hotel rooms and gave us free breakfast. We were extremely upset and asked reception if they have any 3 bedrooms villa or suites available but she said the entires hotel is booked out. We asked if we can move back to the villa on the second night and once again were told fully booked. The receptionist was not helpful at all and all she wanted to do was to push us to stay in the 2 hotel rooms and tried anything to get rid of us.
We really wanted to have a place where there is a living room/sitting area so we can spend time with our friends therefore we purposely booked a 2 bedroom villa, also we bought all the cooking ingredients to cook our friends a nice birthday breakfast but ended had to cramp into the hotel room. My husband and I stayed here before and found the hotel very nice so that's why we took our friends here this time and realised that it is an absolute disappointment and it has really ruined our long weekend. Crowne Plaza should train their staff to be more friendly and accommodating or at least try their best to help their guests but no, they just wanted to get them into a room then their problem is solved. Free breakfast was just not enough to compensate for this stay because it really did spoilt our long weekend and our friend's birthday.
Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley is definitely NOT our choice when we visit the Hunter Valley again.

I stayed here with my boyfriend last weekend. It is a huge property attached to a golf course, so there is lots of grass and places to roam. The thing that stood out the most about Crowne Hunter Valley is the amount of little places there were to sit/chill out. There are big bean bags on the grass if you want to loll around, there’s a sun baked balcony by the upstairs bar perfect for a casual game of giant chess! And of course there is the pool which is large but mostly very shallow.

We spent Sunday afternoon lounging by the pool but being the start of school hols it wasn’t very serene as there were a lot of children making noise and running around. The spa had about twenty children in it most of the time so that was off the cards! So I guess it is a good place to bring your kids…

The hotel is situated 6km from the closest town so you do not have many meal options outside of the restaurants, both of which served delicious food!

We did a wine tour with Cheers Bus and they picked us up and dropped us off outside the door.

All in all it was a great place to go for a romantic albeit expensive weekend.

it was a perfect romantic getaway for couple. the concierge was v helpful. The food was excellent especially the honey carrot , lamb rack, salad etc. We tried the wine sampling in the hotel , it was good . This hotel has excellent panorama view.

The room is v spacious and clean. This hotel is of high standard in terms of food quality, customer service, food and restaurant , views etc.

When we were day, each day seemed to pass slowly.
