“beautiful drive south”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

The drive down is spectacular and there are many pull offs and things to see along the way. We drove by penguin rookeries and stopped at overlooks. It's stunningly beautiful.

“Penguins”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

...and sharks and sealions... wonderful. Trip arranged by hotel. Good company but a bit rushed. Dislike - over too quickly!

“good day out combined with other sights/places”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

we drove down the west coats from cape town and stopped off at Simonstown and visited the towns museum which was most interesting.Be aware that there is entrance fee to access the area around cape point which might proove expensive if you do not intend on climbing up to the top of the point itself. There are other tracks that can be walked but all require stout footwear. The Cape Point lighthouse is accessed either by a cable car or a steep but wide pathway.Views from the top are worth the effort but do bear in mind that this not offically the tip of the African Continent nor where the Atlantic meets with the Indian Ocean.Do take the M65/M6 route back to Cape Town as the views between Noordhoek and Hout Bay are spectacular.

“A unique ecosystem with a view to die for”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

It cost us R90 per head to enter the park to get to Cape Point. If you wish to explore every nook and cranny start off early in the morning and then some.
It is quite magnificent and when we went for lunch at the restaurant near the funicular, I could have stayed there forever. The view was superb. The food was also good enough and fairly well presented.
The funicular was efficient (R45 return) but scared the other passengers when they realised that the last physically disabling accident had occurred after 5200 days and we were on 5800+ days.
One can also walk up the hill and then steepish stairs to the top of the lighthouse. The 360 degree view is amazing although it looked like it needed a revamp.
There is a shop where one can buy gifts - mostly tourist type items with a few nuggets.

“Good Tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

Visited on organized day tour. Very business with Far Eastern Tourists who all have some fixation about being photographed by the sign. Views from lighthouse worth the climb [even if you use the train there is still an appreciable climb at the top. Ate in the restaurant by the train building and food good with reasonable pricing, Try to get a window table. The views are superb.
