“Noisy But With An Incredible View”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

We spent a week at VB and we usually don't nitpick but due to plumbing issues that our friends encountered while here, we starting seeing things in a very different light. First, the noise is terrible! The place is situated on the top of a hill, hence where you get your views, but ALL the noise travels up. From the cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles, etc. on the highway, to the roosters that cluck all day, the wild dogs that bark off & on all day, to the gas truck that sounds like a politician running for office with his loudspeaker that starts at 7:20 every morning! Then, you don't have purified water and ours was taken the 2nd day & never filled totally. There are alot of light switches that don't turn on any lights (and it's DARK at night) but wait....there are candles! But those are all burnt down & you need a grill lighter to light them. I didn't like drying my face with a bath mat & my friend had to buy her own hangers. We asked about these things & the owner Elsa had plenty of excuses for everything. She is not a 'Hands on' owner. She's a lovely woman who is not there all the time as other reviews say, and leaves you with her staff who don't speak English. We had a sewer smell from the time we came till our friends toilet backed up into their shower causing them to pack up & leave for a nite. An awful inconvenience for everyone! Altho they were glad to get away from the Ants in their unit for a nite. Villa Bella does have an incredible view but lacks the niceties you'd expect when you pay what we did. None of us would go back there and it's a shame because the housekeeper Rosa works her butt off trying her hardest to please all the guests. Many thanks to Rosa.....

Room Tip: I wouldn't take the 'Blue Suite' in the Owners House. The Owners House was nice aside f...

Fantastic adventure! Elsa is amazing and the views are outstanding! Loved it! The place is bright and colorful. A massage overlooking the bay is a definite must! The food is delicious and well prepared.

Villa Bella is a breath taking hotel in the charmy town of La Cruz. From the moment you enter, you are welcome by an amazing landscape view from the Nayarit Riviera. The facilities are outstanding, the rooms invite you to relax and enjoy la buena vida. We definitely recommend this place and we thank Elsa, Rosa and Alfonso for their warm hospitality, great food and nice conversations.

We stayed at Villa Bella the resort is breath taking, such beautiful views. We enjoyed staying on property the entire time VERY safe. We felt so comfortable, the staff is like family the owner is there every day visiting with guests.

The breakfast was EXCELLENT all fresh made in front of you with open kitchen. My husband and I will be planning another relaxing trip back when we have our baby. Perfect get away for excellent food and relaxation!!!! HIGHLY recommended!!!!

We're a young couple from Vancouver, CA and we had a lovely time here, starting with Elsa picking us up from Sayulita. A very nice touch :) We stayed in the "Owner's Apartment," Elsa upgraded our room free of charge because of a last minute cancellation. Another nice touch! This suite has gorgeous views and is very spacious and tastefully
decorated. There is a double tub in the bathroom but it is more for
showering than soaking, as it fills very slowly via the shower-head. The pool is beautiful and the breakfasts are yummy! FYI that breakfast was usually served later (around 930-10) but I'm sure they wouldn't mind serving you earlier as long as you let them know.

La Cruz has some great restaurants (we found Frescati's to be very romantic and tasty and the little seafood burrito place along the road is great - Elsa can point it out). Also I'd recommend a day trip to Sayulita, a charming surfer town where you can rent a surf or paddle board cheap then grab a cheap but tasty fish taco from any of the many restaurants before checking out some of the really cool shops!

We stayed at Villa Bella for 3 nights at the end of a 2 month vacation stay in a rental home in Bucerias. We chose La Cruz as my husband was playing with the Mexican Shuffle Band at Philo's and we wanted to be close.
Villa Bella was the perfect getaway for us. Rosa's breakfast's were delicious and our morning visits with Elsa were informative and charming. After two months of poor sleep in our rental home, the beds at Villa Bella were heaven and we slept like babes. The pool was the perfect temperature and the view from the pool is absolutely breathtaking. We were so thrilled with our stay that we put a deposit down and booked a six week stay next winter! If you're looking for a B & B stay with delicious breakfasts, dreamy beds & linens and a pool with a spectacular view, Villa Bella is the vacation destination for you!

We stayed at the Villa Bella for 10 days over Christmas and New Year's in 2010. We are not fans of large resorts - all-inclusive or otherwise - and the Villa Bella was a perfect alternative. With the large and very comfortable bed/sitting rooms, and welcome to the outdoor kitchen, dining room, sitting area, garden and pool, we felt completely at home. The view was spectacular. Best of all was sitting down with Elsa every day at breakfast and enjoying the warm welcome of Alfonso and Rosa. Instead of being one of too many guests in a larger place, we felt that we really got an authentic Mexican experience, largely due to our chats with Elsa who had wonderful stories to tell. Our children who are young adults and who have several friends in the area, were also warmly welcomed and were free to come and go as they pleased without disturbing anyone. The Villa is a very easy walk (5-10 minutes) to a variety of Mexican restaurants in La Cruz and to the beach. La Cruz is a charming town on the edge of tourism with way more authenticity than nearby Bucerias and La Mita. We much preferred it. Highly recommended if small and authentic is what you are looking for.
