I stayed at Tradewinds extended-stay apartments for over a year and enjoyed my time there. The extended-stay is a couple minutes down the road from the main hotel and proved to be very good option for long-term. The extended-stay rooms are clean and quiet and have nice amenities, such as reliable internet, flat screen tv with several Miami stations, access to a full kitchen or kitchenette, as well as a pool, grill, and laundry. The main hotel has an indoor/outdoor restaurant with nice ambiance and live entertainment frequently. There is a good bar downstairs around back that has a patio and occasional events, such as karaoke. Lots of locals frequent this bar, as well. The gym at the main hotel is great - lots of free weights, not just a few machines - a big upgrade over most hotel gyms. Several locals also have a membership to use the gym but it is never too crowded.
I found the staff friendly, approachable, and helpful - this includes the managers, front desk staff, and mini-mart staff. The cleaning staff was also friendly and thorough in servicing the room 6 days per week. The hotel is a little off the main roads, so it's nice that it is a bit secluded but still convenient to get to the highway or High street/downtown San Fernando by car. It is more of a residential area, so not much is within walking distance - I would recommend arranged transportation such has renting a car or having a taxi number available. The hotel also has a free shuttle that can be arranged with some notice, although I have not used it.
I would definitely recommend Tradewinds for business travelers.
