These cottages are wonderful! The art, furniture, and murals are amazing. The cottages are roomy and quaint. My husband and I stayed in the honeymoon cottage. We had a huge covered balcony. The in-room jacuzzi actually fits two people! The bath salts and bubble bath provided were luxurious and smelled delicious!
La Mansion Inn is approximately 20-30 drive from the Tabacon hot springs. Our friends stayed at Tabacon and Arenal Springs resorts. We were very glad that we chose La Mansion Inn at Arenal Lake. It was so nice to get away from huge crowds and bus loads of tourists that frequent the cluster of hotels and cottages near the volcano.
Of the three days that we stayed here, only one day was sunny (which we heard is uncharacteristic for this area of CR during dry season), but we made the most of it by taking short day trips into town, going hiking (try the hanging bridges hike), and just relaxing at our cottage and in the heated pool. Our only complaint is that we wished the heated pool was a little warmer. Other than that, this place is beautiful!
Leo (the owner) and his daughter (Peggy) are attentive, but also very laid back, which we loved! We felt at ease walking around the grounds and whenever we had a question, Peggy and Leo were happy to provide information.
The restaurant at La Mansion Inn is very good. You can purchase three-course dinner for approx. $20 and their wine selection is pretty good. Breakfast is included (fresh fruit, toast, orange juice, and coffee), but you can also purchase a larger breakfast (eggs, bacon, etc).
If / when we come back to Arenal, we will definitely stay at La Mansion Inn again!
