My partner and I returned from Tobago at the end of March 2006. We stayed at the Toucan Inn for 3 weeks on an all-inclusive basis. So pleased were we with this holiday that we have now booked for 4 weeks next Feb/Mar. The Toucan Inn is a wonderfull small and friendly resort. We experienced no noise disturbance from the airport and found the location to be great as it is away from the hustle and bustle of Store Bay beach but close enough to stroll down within 10 minutes. Pigeon Point is a fair bit further and takes about 30 minutes to walk to, we just got a taxi (cost £3.50) if you are planning to spend a fair bit of time at Pigeon Point it is worth buying the weekly admission ticket for £7.00 rather than the daily for £1.80. We stayin in one of the garden rooms which was basically but adequatly furnished and kept very clean by the maid. The all-inclusive menu was not a buffet selection where everyone piles in but a choice from a menu meaning everything was cooked fresh to order for all meals. The standard of the food and the presentation was very high. I agree the choice may seem limited for a long period but you do have the option of choosing off an alternative menu and paying the difference we did this and in the three weeks only totted up an extra £30.00. The add-on menu ranges from an extra £1.00 for the Thai Crab cakes starter (a definate must have) up to an extra £9.00 for fillet steak ( a beautiful piece of fillet cooked exactly as requested). Bearing in mind the cost of eating out in Tobago (steak elsewhere ranged from £16.00 to £25.00) the menu provided by the Toucan is real value for money even if you choose from the 'extras' menu. There are other restaurants to choose from within walking distance but we spent £25.00 per head each time for a main course and a couple of drinks and the standard of food was certainly no better than the Toucan. The cocktails served were delicious with the Italian Colada being a particular favourite. The afternoon tea with a piece of cake became something of a 5 o'clock tradition. We found all the staff to be very friendly and would like to thank Troy, Christine, Beverly, Kerry-Anne, Hochoy and all the others for a wonderful relaxing holiday that has left lasting good memories.

I have just returned from a week in the Toucan with my wife and baby son (10 mths).

I can say that the Toucan is an excellent hotel within the price range.

Rooms: The garden rooms are spacious but a little basic and lacking in natural light the air con in our room was a little random!. The pool side rooms were a little smaller but modern and you should not be scared away by the close proximity to the bar (noise ceases about 11)

Location: Very close to airport so nice transfer after a 9 hour flight. You hardly hear any aircraft noise during the stay. The walk to store bay is about 10-15 minutes (with a pram) pigeon point is a good 45 minute walk away. There is a mini mart about 5-10 minutes away with most basic items. ATM is again 10-15 minutes at the airport.

Food: Basic but tasty the evening menu can be a little expensive. The menu also stays the same and only a cuple of specials are on each day. Breakfast was good if a little unchanging.

Bar: Good prices and wide range of cocktails etc a beer was $10 TTD.

Pool: Small but lovely and always very quiet during the day.

Staff: Troy, Christine, Eleisha(sp?) and Shaun were all great and super helpful. The rest were quite a surly mob but reasonably efficient.

We stayed at the Toucan Inn at the end of February 2006 this being our fourth visit there. We have tried other places in the Carribean but have to say this is the friendliest we have stayed at. The rooms are basic but very clean and tidy and the air conditioning is very efficient and not noisy. Troy the manager is very friendly and nothing is to much trouble for him. Look out also for Christine at reception the Bananaquit of the Toucan where does she get her energy from? pure adrenalin. If you like to fish like I do the chef will be more than happy to cook it for you, I brought Tuna and Kingfish back one day and had it for dinner and it was cooked to perfection 10 out of 10. Will be booking the toucan again for 2007

We stayed at Toucan with a group of friends. We had a good time. Troy the Manager was very helpful, and as other people have said Christine in reception was very helpful and efficient. The restaurant was open and cool and the food was good although we would have liked the chance to have a snack in the evenings, this menu was available until 6pm only. Most of the staff were pleasant, but one girl in the restaurant was very surly and slow ( we did not get her name )one morning we waited 45 minutes for 2 boiled eggs .. We had a garden room which was very nice, and had a private area outside to sit with table and chairs as did all the rooms. The evening entertainment was very limited and finished very early.(930 pm ). The pool was lovely with lots of chairs and loungers these could both have benefitted from some cushions on them. If we were lucky enough to be able to go Tobago again we would have no hesitation in staying here again, despite the longish walk to the beach. We ahve visited other carribean islands and found Tobago to be the friendliest by far

Spent 4 - 18 Feb 06 at the Toucan Inn. Fabulous, will go again. We had a garden room, which we found quieter than by the pool. Rooms are basic, clean and serviced every day. Spend some time getting to know the staff individually, they will repay it many times over. Nothing is too much trouble for Troy, the manager, just ask and it will be done. Christine in reception is hyper a 100% of the time and it seems that she sorts problems out before they occur.

Shelley, a waitress in the restaurant, loves to sing as she works. She also loves books, if you've finished yours perhaps you could pass it on to her. Kerri-Ann, also a waitress will look after you and Hochoy (waiter) also makes the best Pina coladas we've ever tasted.

Only gripe we had was that we were All Inclusive and found that the Menu, although extensive, was not changed during the 2 weeks we were there.

To sum up, see you next year. Thanks to all of the staff.
