“A Hotel with an Excellent Service Ethos”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

We booked our holiday in Tobago just a few weeks before departure. We went with a company called Golden Holidays who responded quickly to all queries and were very helpful. The flight was with Monarch and both the outward and return journeys were very comfortable. We paid for extra leg room at £40 per person per journey and it was worth it. We not only got more leg room but there was more aisle room where our seats were placed (in two's at the back). The air crew were friendly, the food was ok and the flight went quickly.

The hotel is so close to the airport that you can probably walk it quicker than a taxi takes!! However, there are very few flights (just the island hopper prop planes a few times a day) so it is not noisy. I loved the hotel. It was attractive to look at with lots of gardens, it was on the beach (which is private) and set on a small, very very safe, lagoon. The room was lovely and very clean. The housekeeping is done twice a day. The communal areas were all very clean, the staff were immaculately dressed and very friendly and polite. The food is outstanding. We were booked for bed and breakfast (and the breakfast could keep you going all day) but we often had the buffet lunch which was reasonably priced and delicious. We had eaten so much breakfast and lunch that we usually shared a burger and fries in the evening sitting in the verandah bar looking at the sunset over the Caribbean sea. I am sure that tipping is acceptable but we never felt any kind of pressure to tip and, in fact, almost felt that we might embarrass people by offering a tip.

The area is very quiet. There are some bars but I did not hear any noise from them at nights. Store Bay next to the hotel has lots of little food vending huts selling the delicious crab & dumplin, conch & dumplin, roti's, callaloo and all the other delicious food they have there. It was very reasonably priced with a meal costing around £5. There are boat trips available in Store Bay. The hotel also has excursions on offer and there is a scuba diving place in the hotel. The hotel did not mind at all if you brought in food bought outside and drinks from the mini-mart just across the road.

I would recommend this hotel and island for a quiet and relaxing holiday in the sun. (Be careful of the sun - EVERYBODY got sunburned on the first day even if they were wearing Factor 50 and sitting under the palm trees!) and I will definitely go back again and see more of the island.

I've stayed here many times as the location is perfect. Restaurants, bars, pigeon point, a supermarket & a bank are all within walking distance from this hotel. It sits on its own private beach which is great for swimming. The hotel could do with a bit of modernisation & perhaps a lick of paint, but that's not enough to stop me going back. Service is good too, but just remember you're in the Caribbean & so don't expect everything you ask for to happen instantly. A great little gem though, I can't wait to return!

Just had 2 weeks at the Coco Reef with my daughter son inlaw and 2 grandsons aged 5 and 7 and loved it.
Staff were very obliging and couldn't do enough for us.We were made welcome and upgraded to a sea view room.Flowers were on the bed welcoming us, and wine and fruit left for our enjoyment.Lots of towels were available for our use, there was no need to get off your lounger on the beach if you didn't want to as drinks fruit etc were served by the staff.
Bathing in area provided was safe for our grandchildren who had a fantastic time snorkeling and swimming.
Daryl's tours are a must as we had a super time seeing all of the island plus meeting his family and fishing.
Our daughter and grandson went horse-riding which they loved.
We can fully recomend the Coco Reef where nothing was too much trouble and is a credit to Eric and his staff. Thank you all again for a memorable holiday.

Have recently returned from a wonderful 10 stay. Coco Reef has a superb position in this charming island. Beach front location with safe bathing in the large sea-water lagoon; (we even managed to snorkel and see some amazingly colourful fish); superb sunsets; comfortable accommodation and relaxing atmosphere. Take time to sail up the coast or travel in a super speed boat to follow the dolphins. Enjoy the views from a variety of areas serving food and drink- we especially enjoyed sitting on the terrace in the evening before our meal. Thankyou to the manager Eric and his team for their hard work - creating a peaceful and calm resort with friendly and helpful staff.

Just returned from a two week stay at Coco Reef before we travelled we read so many of the reviews both good and bad I was not sure what to expect. having previously stayed in resorts around the Caribbean I can honestly say Coco Reef was a very good place to stay for many reasons and a few minor problems should not interfere with your trip.
This was our first time at Coco Reef but did not feel we were trated any differnetly to the repeat visitors.
The rooms were large and clean, yes a little bit of TLC wouldnt go a miss but I did not want to spend that much time in a room so no problems there.
The cleaners were always happy to replace towels and toiletries and we always found them to be happy and polite.
We sayed on a bed and Breakfast deal so cannot comment on lunch and dinner but breakfast was very good and organised. There are birds that fly about but it's an open air restaurant in a tropical country and although a bit irritating if your toast goes missing it's part of going away where nature is a bit random so not a big issue.
Beach area was great for swimming and generally lazing around, pool was a quite small but nearly always empty.
The staff always (nearly) greeted you with an hello and smile and always happy to help.
Location was very good, near to some small shops, bars and restaurants. And a ggod base for exploring Tobago.
We travelled around the Island by car with a great driver and guide called Corlson Williams very funny and knowledgable.
All our other trips were organised by a great tour guide called Dexter (Island Man Tours). We had a superb all day boat trip which included going alongside a school of Dolphins, snorkling, visiting other bays, beach BBQ, visiting the Nylon pool at sunset and indulging in too much Rum Punch, GREAT DAY!!. Dexter also organised our Turtle watching evening, dinner venues and met up for lunches and drinks ( and he treated us also) He was a great person to know and although makes his living from selling trips and tours was never pushy and great to go out with.
We ate out every evening in a varieet of restaurants as well as collecting from local takeaways and eating back at the resort.
All in all we werer very happy with Coco Reef and our whole Tobago experience and although we always say we would never go back to the same place twice, we may well return,

Coco Reef is an attractive hotel in a great location, quite close to the airport on the Caribbean side of the island. It is immaculately clean and the room service is a credit to all the staff. The open air restaurant overlooks the beach and the bay. The food is of a consistently high quality, although it does become a little repetitious after a week of the same menus. It would be very easy to exaggerate the positive features of the hotel (fantastic, marvellous etc). Some of the critical reviewers have suggested that the place is "tired". I think laid back is a more apt description. The rooms are excellent, the staff with few exceptions are attentive and only too happy to help. Guests are free to be active or veg out as they wish. If you wish to enjoy a very relaxed environment where time seems to stand still and you can recharge your batteries then Coco Reef is a super option.

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor enjoy a balcony with great views of the Caribbean

My family and I have just returned from a fabulous holiday at Coco Reef.
I was a little worried when we went as I had looked at this site and seen some bad reports... Well I think they must be on another planet or live in a perfect world with a perfect life and home.
The Coco Reef is great yes if you look you can find things wrong and a bit tried but hey that's the Caribbean! A holiday is what you make it and if you just want to have a moan then stay at

When we arrived from a long flight we were meet with a cool drink and warm welcome the paperwork was done quickly and we were taken to our rooms...we had booked a garden room but to our surprise we had been given a free upgrade to a sea view, there was a fruit basket and a bottle of wine and welcome wrote on the. Bed with flowers.
We were all inclusive so went for some food and a drink, we had buffet the first night and from then on we had A La Carte, and the food was amazing, cooked fresh and there was lots of choice.
In the mornings it was the normal mix of cereals, fruit, breads and pastry's and of course full English with a egg station. (The girls who cooked your eggs were very nice and I did feel for them on how some people spoke to them..). Lunch was BBQ or buffet or you could order toasted and club sandwiches..again lots of choice.
When you are on the beach which is spotless staff came round with water, fruit cocktails, and fresh fruit on sticks and if you wanted anything else then you just had to ask. There was always plenty of sun beds and they were always clean, fresh towels were always ready for you and you could swap them as many times as you wanted.

We went on a great island tour with Daryl and his driver Teato and saw the island and he even took us to see his grandparents. The knowledge they told us was amazing from all the trees and island facts and tales.

All the staff are friendly and helpful.(as long as you remember you manners.)
All in all it was the best holiday I have had..thanks guys..
