“A-mazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

I stayed here with my best friend in October. I'm Trinidadian and live in New York and he’s from New Jersey. I normally stay at guest houses in Bob Accord for a night or 2 whenever I visit Tobago, but my best friend wanted to check this place out being his first trip to T&T.
Excellent!!!
We were so impressed with this first class experience. This was the best breakfast I had in my life... end of story. (Fresh Soursop punch, with Coconut and Carrot bake, Flying Fish, Fruit Punch, Coconut Water and Curry pumpkin). Kaye is a wonderful cook. Nothing compares to this, and Kaye and Stein's hospitality was truly refreshing and appreciated. They took such good care of us… took us to the Beach, and to the local restaurants and picked us up. Helped us make reservations… I really fell in love with this place.
I already recommended Native Abode to 2 friends, and will be looking to spend my Honeymoon right here :)
I highly recommend Native Abode. My 1 complaint is that we did not stay longer… I plan to fix that next time around :)

We were genuinely impressed during our stay at Native Abode. The Guest House is an immaculate, imposing building on the serene Gaskin Bay Rd. It is extremely conveniently located five minutes’ drive away from Store Bay, Pigeon Point, the Airport and many of the other popular locations in the area.

Even more impressive however, given the affordable nightly rates, is the attention to detail in the rooms (amenities such as wifi, netflix movies, flatscreen televisions from 32 inches and above, microwave, full-size kitchen sink, mini fridge, fresh supply of Tobago spring water, beach towels etc); the excellent utilisation of space (the King-sized bed comfortably fit into the Deluxe room without swallowing the space); and the personalised touch from the host Stein and hostess Kaye, in particular with regard to the wide selection of local breakfast options. All of this makes staying in this family-run Guest House, of Miss Stephanie, Marlon, Stein and Kaye, a truly warm, accommodating and relaxing experience. We would thoroughly recommend it to anyone visiting the island.

Room Tip: All rooms are luxurious. The difference in room size is negligible as the utilisation of space and a...

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Native Abode and enjoyed every minute of it. From the moment my husband booked the trip, Kaye ensured our every need would be met. We were greeted at the airport with a warm welcome and smile from Stein and transported to the bed & breakfast. It was nestled in Bon Accord, away from the hustle and bustle of the tourists (which we loved.). We were then graciously met by Kaye, whom escorted us to our lovely suite and explained in detail all of the fabulous features. We were treated like royalty and our every need was met and exceeded. We received great restaurant and site seeing recommendations and free shuttle service to and from every place we went, and never made to feel as a bother or hindrance. Stein was always smiling and had a very pleasant disposition. Kaye makes the best bake ever and the breakfast area was superb! We felt as if we were the only guests there and loved how special we were made to feel. The attention to detail in this bed and breakfast is like none we have ever seen before and for that we will DEFINATELY be back! Thank You Kaye and Stein for making not only our anniversary wonderful, but making my 1st trip to Tobago a very memorable one! See you all on our next visit!

Every year for al least the past 10 years, my best friend, her daughter and I escape to Tobago after Christmas for a few days of R&R. For many years we stayed at different hotels, then last year we discovered Native Abode. No more hotel hopping for us. This B&B is luxurious with all the touches that make you feel pampered. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful. No continental breakfast here. You have so many choices that you can have something different every morning: buljol, fried fish, sausages, eggs, bacon, eggplant, vegetarian dishes are just a few options. Served with fresh fruit, salad, hot bake or bread, coconut water, fresh fruit juices and, of course, coffee or tea. In addition, all you have to do is make the reservation and Kaye and Stein take care of everything else for you including car rentals. Native Abode is located close to the airport, Store Bay and Pigeon Point. The main reason we plan to make this our Tobago vacation spot, though, is the undeniable Tobago hospitality. Kaye and Stein are so warm and in-tuned to their guests every need. This place is world class when it comes to accommodations, food and service. Can't wait to be there next month!

This hotel was amazing, stayed here for 3 nights and didn't want to leave!
Kaye was a great host and her breakfasts were so lovely and filling. Nothing was too much trouble for Kaye.
The rooms were very large and the beds were big (i think 2 double beds were joined together).
Bathroom didn't have very good lighting, once in the shower it was really dark, but that was a small issue.
The hotel was clean and safe. I would stay here again and will be recommending it to family and friends.
Please note there is no swimming pool or beach at the hotel.

Not much I can add to previous reviews - everything that has been said is true. We spent a very pleasant week here. The room was spacious and the bed enormous and very comfortable. Everything you can think of that you might need (and probably a few things you didn't know you needed) is tucked away in a drawer or corner somewhere. The breakfasts are absolutely delicious, it was so nice so start the day with such a nice variety of fresh and tasty food (including fruits from the garden) and I found myself looking forward eagerly to the next one! Kaye and Stein were very helpful, friendly and approachable and answered all our questions, but were also very unobtrusive if you prefer to keep yourself to yourself. If I ever return to Tobago I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, I could happily eat those breakfasts forever.

Locally the area is residential and very quiet (apart from the goat and chicken chorus at 5am - but you soon learn to sleep through this!). There is no need for a car if you don't mind a bit of walking. There are a few mini-markets and small restaurants/takeaways within a 5-10 minute walk. Crown and Pigeon Point and many more restaurants and bars are about a 15-20 minute stroll away (though when its 35 degrees outside that can seem like a VERY long time - there is not much shade along the way). You can also walk to Penny Savers supermarket and the shops in Canaan in about 15-20 mins.

Useful info: There is an ATM at the petrol station 5 mins away (though it only dispenses $100TT notes and these can be surprisingly difficult to spend). The lady who sells fruit and veg (also meat and fish) from the stall next to the petrol station is lovely and very helpful. If you want a quiet beach almost to yourself you can walk to Kilgywn Bay in about 20 minutes. This is a thin strip of sand backed by trees at the end of the airport runway (that makes it sound awful - it's lovely!) A bit further afield is Canoe Bay (we got a taxi) which was well worth the trip and the small entrance fee - for most of the day we had it all to ourselves.

In summary - if you want to avoid the all inclusive hotels and most of the tourists, and see some local life, then stay here!
