“Excellent Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

My husband and I recently spent our 24th. wedding anniversary at Native Abode in July and it was a truly wonderful and surprising experience. First to begin the hotel is away from the maddening crowd of Crown Point and is located in a very quiet area of Bon Accord where one can truly rest and relax and avoid the holiday crowd. But even better than this is the very clean, posh, beautiful accomodations. The rooms were even better than seen on their website. The service was 'A' Class by Stein [brother], Kay [sister] and their mother. They went out of their way to ensure our comfort and really know the meaning of hospitality. Kay really made our honeymoon memorable by surprising us with a bottle of non-alcoholic wine and delicious chocolate cake. Among the things I love is their breakfast prepared by Kay herself. Delicious, healthy and very local with a variety of fresh fruit juices and coconut water. The only thing missing is a Pool but the beaches are nearby. I highly recommend Native Abode for their excellent accomodations and abounding hospitality. Now I know I have found a terrific place to stay in Tobago. Hats off to this family, keep up the good work and God bless.

My family and I enjoyed two brief stays here. The rooms are extremely comfortable, with great beds, effective air-conditioning and no mosquitoes! The level of cleanliness and attention to detail is extremely high. Someone has given a great deal of thought to the needs of the traveller. Snacks and drinks provided in the rooms were very welcome.Everyone there is friendly and the range of dishes on offer for the delicious breakfast is staggering. Pigeon Point is a short taxi ride away. There is a lot of information in the room about local attractions and facilities, but Stein was also helpful in making arrangements and giving us lifts in the vicinity.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are lovely.

Kay and stein provided a great service, with pick ups and drops off from airport, mobile phone and went out of their way to accommodate my wishes, such as adjusting their breakfast options. The downside of this friendly b&b is its location. If you come to Tobago for the beach and don't have your own transport this place is not suitably located. To get to pigeon point beach you will need to take a route taxi into crown point and the it is a 10 to 15 mi ute walk. And another minus for me was the decor of the room. My room was very dark and stuffed with so much furniture that it was hard to move around. As most people stay for only a few nights, the rooms do not need a kitchenette just a fridge would be enough. Getting rid of the kitchens and painting the rooms white and taking down the draped curtains and putting up horizontal black out blinds would make the rooms bigger and more peaceful.

It was our pleasure to extend true Tobago hospitality to you and to go the extra mile to meet your specific needs during your stay with us.
With regards to your concern about our location we wish to advise that as an operation sited within a typical rustic Tobago village our offering to our patrons is not beachfront view or access but a unique opportunity to observe and interact more intimately with the local community so that one can appreciate the warmth and friendliness of our people as well as the peacefulness and restfulness of the environment. The short walk from the property to the beaches (Pigeon Point and Store Bay) provides an ideal opportunity for engaging the local community: a feature that patrons are aware of when making the decision to stay at Native Abode and which most seem to appreciate. If patrons decide against walking or do not have their own transport, they either rent a vehicle, use route or hired taxis or take advantage of the Native Abode shuttle service to get to and from the beaches and other places of interest in the area.
In relation to your second concern regarding the room décor we wish to indicate that it is our goal at Native Abode to offer patrons a ‘warm and friendly home away from home ambience’ while on vacation. As such the décor and outfitting of our rooms reflect this feel which has been genuinely appreciated by all our patrons (as expressed in other Trip Advisor reviews and ratings). The creation of the homely ambience also includes the overall lighting of the rooms. Detailed attention has been given to ensuring that our rooms are adequately lighted. Thus all rooms have general purpose lighting from wall scones and the overhead remote controlled 54” ceiling fan with a dome light that has a dimmable 100 watt halogen lamp/bulb. Task lighting is provided by reading lights on the wall next to the bed and/or via table lamps. There is even an emergency light plugged into one of the electrical wall sockets that automatically illuminates when there is a power outage or can be set to act as a night light bathing the room in a soft glow of light for sleeping. However, we do recognize that an appreciation for all this is based on individual and personal taste and preference and have taken the comments shared on this issue in that light.
We sincerely thank you for sharing and are pleased that despite the concerns expressed your overall stay with us was a pleasant one.

Native Abode is in a class of its own. A+ accomodation and hospitality from the hosts and all the amenities were outstanding. Clean, quiet and convenient location in proximity to beaches, shops and restaurants. The breakfast menu was excellent and varied as were the drinks. Kay and Stein were very professional and friendly hosts who made us feel right at home. Native Abode is ideally a home away from home and I will recommened this 5 star B&B to anyone looking for quality accomodation in Tobago.

This was a lovely bread and breakfast and the hospitality provided was excellent. The rooms were very clean and provided all that was necessary to make us very comfortable. We had seen the reviews and thought that they were "too good to be true" but now that we have had the experience of spending two nights there, we will certainly recommend it to our friends and family.

Kay and Stein were very accommodating. We had a few unusual requests and they were able to meet our needs on every occasion. They were prompt and professional but by no means aloof - very friendly and they felt like family.

The breakfast was delicious and the table was always well prepared when we arrived. We look forward to returning sometime soon.

A truly wonderful B&B. Great location.. a short drive away from everything. Rooms are really nice and the staff extremely friendly. I particularly like the care taken in perfecting the small things that truly makes the difference. Breakfast was second to none.
