“Superb value & very friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

I have read the negative reviews of this hotel regarding cleanliness of rooms etc however having returned there for six years I have never had a negative experience. On my most recent visit the quality of the food was excellent, the rooms are comfortable and spacious and the draught beer a dramatic improvement on previous years. Despite playing golf in some atrocious weather and the ground being particularly wet the course was a real pleasure to play with natural ground features making it a nice challenge. Special mention should be made about the friendliness of the people who work at Gleddoch the Reception, Bar/Restaurant & Golf Pro Shop staff could not been be more friendly or helpful & they make any visit a very pleasant experience. All in all the Hotel offers excellent value for money.

Having stayed for two nights we found the staff at Gleddock welcoming on arrival and that theme carried on for the week end .the rooms are large enough too take four which came in handy for all of our golf gear !!
The food in the restaurant was GREAT, plenty of choice and the house wine reasonably priced
the golf course is exceptional when the weather is in your favour.
Over all an enjoyable weekend and a great place to stay with or with your golf clubs.
we will be back next year

We stayed in this hotel voor two nights, recommended by Scottish family of ours. Obviously they did not themself stay in this hotel. Their judgment was based solely on the location of it which is indeed beautiful. View from outside on the river Clyde, the ills and the golfcourse. Our room was oldfashioned English style. Not bad but, except for the bathing room, it needed some maintenance to bring it up to standard for a 4-stars A&A hotel. From the view of our room we expected that it would give us a sight on the countryside around the hotel. That was not the case: our view was on somes sheds of the hotel, a little grassfield with a lot of litter on it and a wall with airconditioning machines.Terrible! Reason given by the reception: it was very busy in the hotel.....!? Therefore we could not get another room and it was not possible to cancel because the hotelprice already had been paid in advance. So, if someone might have the idea to go this hotel, don't pay in advance and first check the room and the view of it before you accept it.

This was our golf groups sixth year of staying at Gleddoch House and it just keeps getting better and better. Our rooms were lovely. The beds really comfortable and the facilities as always spot on. We stay for two nights and all six of our group really look forward to our meals as the food is always so nice. The golf course was in a very soggy condition due to the very poor weather the area had suffered prior to our visit but the golf was still highly enjoyable. All the staff were really friendly. All in all another fantastic stay and we will be back for trip number seven next year !

Just stayed here for one night on our way home from the highlands.
It was a welcomed rest after a long drive. The receptionist was very welcoming. Our room was a good size and well equipped with coffe, tea and biscuits. We had a very large comfortable bed in which we slept soundly.
Would definitely return.

Had a nice stay here with my partner, however there are some little niggly things to mention. Check in was okay however I felt slightly overlooked since we were only staying for one night & felt the receptionist was much friendlier to the couple in front who were obviously golfers and staying a few days. Our room was in the main building & the receptionist old us that getting there would involve about 4 sets of stairs, shame she also failed to mention the other 10 sets inbetween, the hotel is very large & like a maze! The room was nice & large but very strangely had a connecting door to the next room, although the door was locked from our side I didn't feel particularly comfortable with this. The room was clean with tea & coffee facilities & a flats screen tv, however the carpet needed re-laid as it was coming up in the middle of the floor. The gym in the hotel is very small & feels a bit squashed, the pool is excellent though & the sauna & steam room too. We ate in the bar at night although or a 4 star hotel I would have expected table service, but the food was nice. The bed was comfortable enough however duck feather pillows are a big no go for me, very uncomfortable!! Views surrounding the hotel are beautiful & I would stay again for the price we paid.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

We stayed on sat 27th April for a one night stay - 3 females meeting up to celebrate our birthdays. We wanted a hotel with pool including breakfast and dinner and paid £55 each, sharing a family room with 2 double beds. The room had all facilities you would want and was very comfortable with clean bathroom and no sign of negative comments mentioned by previous reviewers. We were in Room 31 and had plenty of room for the 3 of us, very comfortable with great views over to Dumbarton. Staff were very friendly and helpful at reception, at dinner and at breakfast.

3 course diner advertised at £25 was good and recommended. Breakfast was a good selection and nice. Breakfast was part of our package but I think if I had to pay £12.95 for it I wouldn't be describing it as value for money - £9.95 would be more like the price I would pay.

Overall for £55 we felt we had value for money and a comfortable and enjoyable stay with nice food and very nice staff.

My negatives
- It is more 3 star and not 4 star as it is a little tired in some of its decor. I felt it was in need of a bit of an upgrade in some of the public areas.
- We had a room with a connecting door and the girls in the room next door were very audible late at night.
- why not have a cigarette bin at the external bar doors rather than the unsightly litter of cigarette ends in the flower beds
- Cobwebs in the corner of the room
- Also I notice that Elaine's right to reply comments rarely ever address any of the negative comments on tripadvisor and generally only focus on positive comments. Easy to make comments on the positives but why not tackle the negatives? Doesn't sound like a hotel addressing the issues customers have which isn't very impressive.

Overall we had an enjoyable, value for money stay but I wouldn't rate this hotel as 4 star.
