Best place we stayed in our 8 night trip - we stayed 2 nights in a chalet and it was absolutely magnificent - the staff were professional and friendly without pretentiousness. Ruth and Karen were exceptional. Highly recommend

Thank you for your kind words. Ruth and Karen were both thrilled to get a special mention. All of my team at Blanket Bay are committed to ensuring everyone who stays with us at Blanket Bay goes away with fond memories. We count ourselves lucky to work in the most spectacular surroundings and a privilege to look after guests, who often have come so far, to see this special part of New Zealand. With the frequent direct flights from Australia into Queenstown this magic alpine region is so close. I hope we see you back across the Tasman soon.

Honestly, it is difficult to describe the beauty of this lodge. The setting on the bay is one thing, then there is the actual lodge, which does not miss a single detail. It is so warm and welcoming, and we so enjoyed talking with the staff as well as fellow lodgers (not always something we do). Everyone was so interesting and engaging. There was so much to do there (hiking, beautiful pool, jacuzzi and accessible to so many day trips). The food was tremendous, and we quite enjoyed the cocktail hour preceding dinner each night.

Room Tip: Not a bad room to be had here However the corner rooms have balconies that wrap around and provide a...

How do these resorts in New Zealand keep exceeding our expectations? Blanket Bay, that cozy little resort 40 minutes from Queenstown, is a study in well designed restraint. Stunning views from every window, a staff that discreetly anticipates every need, the feel of a private club, food that rivals the world's great restaurants, and activities that thrill - our helicopter to a glacier for a beautiful lunch on the snow was a memorable experience. Highly recommended!

Thank you so much for your kind words. I was particularly delighted to read the title of your report. It is great to see you rate The Lodges of New Zealand so highly. We are truly lucky as a country to have so many committed owners who have created these spectacular properties. Each of them have their own charm and points of difference. In the case of Blanket Bay the Southern Alpine location offers so many wonderful activities. As you identified, the scenic helicopter flight to Milford Sound departing from the grounds of lodge is a 'must do'. Jet boating, riding, fly fishing, hiking, heli skiing in winter are all options and all depart from the front lawn.
I have passed on your report to all the team who are always thrilled to receive such positive feedback. We hope to welcome you back soon.

We have traveled extensively around the world and I can truly say that Blanket Bay is among the very nicest places that we’ve ever stayed at. The serene location by Lake Wakatipu is magnificent, as were our accommodations. The fine attention to detail was outstanding. The friendly and proficient staff was warm and personal. We had the pleasure of meeting the delightful owners, Tom and Pauline during pre-dinner cocktails. All meals were beautifully presented and excellent. We took an awesome heli ride right from the property to Milford Sound. This is luxury at its best! Highly recommended!

Our 2 nights of luxury at Blanket Bay did not disappoint. The setting is breath taking, the lodge itself was magnificent with great attention to detail and the food was sophisticated and beautiful. We really enjoyed the helpful friendly staff and the relaxed nature of the place. It is also well placed for flights and copters over to Fiordland. What a memorable experience.

An outstanding example of boutique luxury lodging. Set amongst some of most impressive natural surroundings, the lodge and its dedicated staff were excellent in every respect. Hard to fault anything at all.
The food was particularly special. The executive chef and the F&B team really know their stuff. Bravo!

New Zealand’s Blanket Bay’s boutique wonderful lodge was the perfect honeymoon destination for Jerry Bridge and his new wife Katie. Our experience at Blanket Bay was outstanding from the moment we arrived. We loved the roaring log fires even though it was April and the skies were blue.
Blanket Bay Lodge is definitely a great destination if a honeymoon is what you are after although most people we met were just on holiday. The service and friendliness of the staff was outstanding too.
Now where do I start? What a feast…every night after cocktails…yum!
An easy helicopter transfer or scenic car ride from Queenstown, Blanket Bay is pretty easy to get to. From the moment you step into the front hall and look out over the views of lake Wakatipu with the mountains (snow capped at certain times of the year) beyond, you realise why they call this beautiful part of New Zealand, ‘Paradise’. It’s No wonder so many films (including Lord of the Rings) have been made here. Katie and I were lucky enough to be staying 4 nights on our honeymoon and naturally wished it had been longer!
The delicious 5 course evening meals and pre dinner cocktails by the roaring fire side were an absolute delight. We particularly enjoyed having our night cap and cheese board served downstairs in the large and comfortable ‘games room’ where you could play everything from snooker, darts, shuffleboard to cards, monopoly or scrabble.
The various activities one can take advantage of range from ‘helli’ trips to Dunedin, the top of the ‘Remarkables’ mountains surrounding Queenstown, fishing or skiing. We chose to join a small group on a 4 wheel drive trip up to the base of the all year round snow capped Mt Ernslaw. The trip included a rainforest nature walk followed by an exhilerating return trip back down to Blanket Bay (yes they have their own jetty) along the dart river on one of those amazingly fast jet boats.
Afternoon tea and biscuits never tasted so good, especially in the spa!!
Other days were spent meandering the footpaths close to the lodge, driving to Glenorchy enjoying a massage and spa and watching an afternoon matinee in Arrowtown – a delightful old goldmining village close to Queenstown, now that was a luxury for us as it’s something rarely done!
But don’t just take my word for it, – go there yourselves, enjoy and savour every moment, it’ll definitely be one of your NZ highlights…
