The Abbey and Cloisters are the major draw card in Moissac' old city. Whilst the Abbey is free to enter, the Cloisters cost 5 euro per adult to enter. The Abbey has a very ornately carved stone door entrance which is special, although it needs a good clean to be honest. The Cloisters, famous for its intricately carved stone arches, is pleasant enough and has interpretive signboards in the adjoining rooms which lead from the courtyard. However it is all in French as is the map guide handout so perhaps an English audio guide maybe available if you're really keen. There is an upper level where you can climb to get a first floor view into the Abbey and a limited view outside to the square. This was via a circular stone staircase with an unhelpful rope hand rail - easy getting up, a bit steep getting down. A few too many dead, rotting pigeons for my liking up there! Overall, it was interesting, worth a visit but needed a clean up especially since they charge entrance fees.
