Hubby & I stayed in the 1 bedrom villa for 5 days. We chose Sejuk because we wanted a rest in peace and to be taken care of. We also wanted a private pool, views of the beach and privacy all in an authentic villa (but with the mod cons!). Sejuk delivered all this and more. You leave the chaos, traffic and noise of Seminyak and drive North changing to ricefields everywhere and when it starts to look like the original Bali - you are at Seseh. Bit tricky to find but Seseh really only has a couple of streets and asking at the Banjar soon points you in the right direction. The approach is a bit putoffish - over a dodgy looking bridge and along a dirt track with rubbish everywhere - but Man - how that changes when you enter! Over their wooden bridge and up the pebble stairs thru your villa gates - we both stood there gobsmacked and took quite a while to take in the view which literally left us speechless. It was absolutely everything the website said but being there was better - the layout and design must have been done professionally because it paid absolute tribute to the land and views. The patio is paved with table and chairs and matching red sunlounge cushions, chair cushions and umbrella. This leads seamlessly to the horizon edge pool which then leads directly to the beach, the views of the Peninsular, the ocean and acres of sky. Behind all this is a background of crashing waves, a symphony of cicadas and weaving dragonflies and butterflies. A welcome coconut drink and snack and we are still trying to gather ourselves to even turn and look at the villa. An authentic Gladack (sp) house (with mod cons woven in!) awaits us - a love nest for two. On the front porch there is a couch for two with a coffee table overlooking the beach. There is one main room (bedroom) with king four poster bed, writing desk with free wifi (not that we cared, too busy) another dining table and chairs, 43 channel telly, DVD player and a plug in mosquito thing under the bed. On that note - before I forget - we did not have one mosquito bite the entire time we were there. Honest to goodness, inside or out, not one bite. At the end of the bedroom is an open dressing room with huge cupboard and a spare bar fridge. One room off this is the bathroom with western loo, copper basin and oversized shower which overlooks the Sejuk waterfall. The pressure was good and the water was hot. Amentities all supplied and the towels were changed as often as we used them. There was also one of those water squirting thingys by the loo if that's your gig. Across the dressing room to the kitchen. I think Sejuk should put a picture or info of this on their website because I (and others I imagine) need to know this info and it can determine if you book or not. The kitchen also is authentic and whilst being small had everything we needed. Kettle which was fast to boil, toaster, sink, 2 burner gas cooker, and fridge about double the size of a bar fridge. It too has views of the beach and ocean with two huge windows opening up. Whenever staff came in to deliver meals etc. they quickly and quietly washed all our cups/glasses etc. filled the kittle (and put it on the boil) and refilled the water jug. On that note - Sejuk provided plentiful water - both bottled and in a jug. Not 2 of the littlest stingy bottles like some 5 * hotels. Complimentary fruit ( Note: 2 new Mangosteen lovers), chips, brekky on the first day and first night dinner. Also, the fridge was full of grog (pay) but can't comment as we stuck to our coffee and duty free. Sejuk also offered us a complimentary breakfast each morning - what a lovely way to begin. Lights - everywhere and for every need and mood including dimmers and inside lights all controlled from bedhead. Bed comfy (little bit hard as seems to be the case in Indonesia) turned down at night with skitter net and bathroom towels changed also. Aircon good, airflow good. The floor of the villa and porch are very wide wooden boards with antique rugs thrown down and the styling of the entire villa was amazing. OK - meals. Here we go - we ordered in every single meal! We've never done this before but as I said - this was just for the 2 of us and quite frankly the variety, price, service and taste made it an absolute delight. Breakfast arrived at the time we asked for every morning. Toast, crossoint (sp) danish, fruit platter or fruit juice (straight out of blender) with little jams and marmalades etc. Bali kopi, tea. There is a menu of a la carte for extra but we were very happy with our breakky as it was. Lunch and dinners - well, we didn't look at the menu but ordered all our favourites including portion size and how hot we each liked things and Made (the Marvelous) delivered on each and every occassion. So, I ended up with girl sized portions that were nice and spicy. Hubby ended up with Papa sized portions all chillied to death. Both happy :) We had Beef Rendang, Chicken Kare, sates, cap kay, nasi goreng, mie goreng, morning glory, another one that looked and tasted like morning glory, good old BLT n chips (once), pisang goreng and pancakes, shredded lemon grass chicken um can't remember everything sorry...all meals were fantastic. The table was set, the glasses filled, the food was just amazing the the service was unobtrusive and genuine. When our daughter and husband arrived unannounced for dinner - hey presto - amazing dinner for 4! Made and the staff are an absolute credit to Sejuk and without them it would just be a lovely villa in a lovely setting. Made even took the time to give us a cooking lesson in Ongol Pandan Suji which we had always struggled to find and always wanted to make back home. No problem, whatever you want - you get with warmth and care. Even down to the serviette folding lessons! I just loved taking the Pandan Suji round to all the staff to offer them a piece it really felt like a little extended family in a way. I have to say ALL the staff were friendly but unobtusive at all times. I've never said that before. Honestly we spent 99% of our time just lounging around in the pool - it really was that beautiful. The pool towels were changed sometimes twice during the day - we've never stayed anywhere that was that attentive to our needs - and we've stayed in heaps of places around the world at all different star levels. I think some GMs of the 5 & 6 * accomodations should stay a few nights and learn what genuine hospitality is. The pool has plenty of steps and lounging corners, at all times of the day has at least one shady spot (if you need) and the temperature was just warm at the top then plain old refreshing as you plunged in. The beach is volcanic black sand which we had always thought would be hard and scratchy to walk on but no, it is as soft as the white stuff and when the sun hits it - it looks like it is scattered with diamonds. Yeah I know, I had it hard, but everything was just sooo perfect. The beach is very steep and at times, very rough. This is not a swimming beach okay? Off in the distance we could see the Peninsular (Uluwatu, Jimbaran, Bingin?) who knows, who cares, but we could see (but not hear) the planes lining up in the air to land and at night, all the lights. Outsourced spa service is available at Sejuk and we booked a massage for 2. Made suggested it might be nice in the upstairs lounge room of the 4 bedroom villa and when we saw it, we agreed! How thoughtful was that? We had a look around the other 2 villas while we were there and I will do a quick report on them too later. We pre booked late checkout and it was honoured without a fuss. We belive Sejuk is excellent value for money whther you compare it to other willas in Indonesia or any other method. Booking Sejuk was OK until I had to pay. One of their preferred methods is Skrill or Moneybookers. They gave us such a hard time ( accused us of money laundering) and then took their sweet time to correct it (weeks and weeks of making us jump thru impossible hoops) and allow us to use OUR money......We will never use Skrill again & I suggested to Sejuk they use another method for payment. It was difficult to obtain receipts from Sejuk (which always makes us nervous), their room compendium says they accept (check out) payment in Visa - but they don't and it was embarassing to have to cough up that much when you are miles from an ATM and ready to use your card. Also, a mix up with the payment for their driver to take us to the airport. Sejuk sent us an email to apologise for that. So, room for improvement in the payment/receipt department. We could have walked 15 minutes down the beach to Echo Beach but quite frankly, it was so good where we were, why would we? Also, we were welcome to walk around the village but just couldn't muster up the energy. We had just finished a week and a half in Legian/Sanur for our daughters wedding so we were over running around for stuff! Just 50 metres along the beach was a ceremony one morning so we had the pleasure of watching that unfold. Apart from that it was watching the mornings unfold, enjoying the day together without a care in the world, and letting the sun set over the ocean and wait for the night chorus to begin. Would we stay there again - ABSOLUTELY YES. How they managed to deliver that level of service yet still leave us in complete privacy is beyond me? If you need other tourists around, people in your face, traffic or a night club - Sejuk is not for you. If you wish for outstanding meals, service, and time to focus on you - then book Sejuk. We received with much pleasure a parting gift and very fond memories...tears were shed at check out.
