The Mercure Pont l'Eveque is alright, I suppose. That is, if you are happy to stay in a picturesque part of France in a hotel of no character or charm. The hotel is clean enough, and the service is okay (except the almost non-existant Room Service) but the atmosphere is that of any modern, economically-built mid-level motel. However, the prices struck me as too high for this type of place. We paid nearly 150 euros for a 'junior suite' which was in fact a regular room, but with an alcove for a desk. If you are looking for an authentic and charming place that reflects Normandy and it charms, I would suggest that you don't stay here...!

This is a great hotel, with comfortable rooms, well furnished and very clean, lovely staff who can't do enough for you and a superb restaurant which is not too expensive. The pool area is lovely- just a little noise from passing traffic (behind trees)- and it has a beautiful view over the countryside. The breakfast was very good, and after eating in the restaurant on the first night, we enjoyed it so much we stayed in every night and sampled more off the menu. The village is nice to explore too. This is a good base for visiting Pegasus Bridge as it is only about 20 minutes away. This has certainly made us want to try Mecure Hotels again.

I am amazed that this hotel is only rated 2 star - having just spent four nights there I would rate it much higher. A modern hotel in a rural location outside Pont L'Eveque, the rooms are of high quality and one of the most comfortable hotel beds we have slept on in awhile. The restaurant though not having a vast menu provided enough variety for the four night’s dinner, and was of excellent quality. The staff were pleasant and very helpful. The hotel is a great location for visiting the D-Day beaches and museums, and I would thoroughly recommend it.
