My girlfriend and I booked this hotel through Expedia. We booked this hotel as most internet agencies listed it as the only hotel at Mont St Michel with rooms available on the dates we requested.
The hotel is 15km from the Mont, and 5km from the nearest train station (Avranches). There are no buses to the hotel from the station, and no buses from the hotel to Mont St Michel. We ended up spending 80 Euros in taxi fares (over two days), going back and forth between the Mont and the hotel (about a ten to fifteen minute drive, 20 euros each trip). Taxis in France aren't cheap.
The hotel Les 13 Assiettes is a very nice hotel, and the staff were helpful, but it's so far away from everything and I would like to warn other vehicle-free travellers. We ended up cancelling two of the three nights we were supposed to stay, and got a refund for one night only.
In a nutshell, only stay here if you like the French country side and have a car.
For travellers who don't have car, I would reccommend the hotel we ended up staying at. It's name was "Hotel Formula Vert" (not listed on this site at the time of writing, but it is across the road from the 'Hotel Vert' listed on here - I think they're both run by the same people). Hotel Formula Vert was 45 Euros a night for a big comfy bed, a TV with THREE English speaking news channels, and a big bathroom, and spotlessly clean to boot!
