“Chic and charming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2010

Ipek Fine and her fantastic B&B made our trip to Alacati simply amazing. First, the hotel is really nicely designed. Everything is brand new and well appointed. The pool and outdoor seating areas are lovely with crisp whites and blues that are more "Conde Nast" than the rates would suggest. The bathrooms are lux with fine products and linens. The beds are comfy and the rooms have plenty of closet space and a desk as well as a cute window seat. We walked by several other butik (boutique) hotels during our stay in town and so many of them seemed more like staying at grandmas - but not Alura. This place is mod and clean with the best vibes. Ipek and her dad were as warm as old friends. They went out of their way to make sure that we were set up with windsurfing, transportation, restaurant recommendations, etc. It was more like staying at a friend's house, except that Ipek has better taste in music. We really enjoyed getting to know them a bit and were genuinely sad to leave. The location is excellent. Right near the cute main pedestrian area, but not in the thick of it. The breakfast is wonderful.

We came during the off season, but the weather was nice and the windsurfing great fun. I can't imagine how busy this place must get in the height of summer. We'll take this time of year over the crowds any day!

It was love at first sight. My husband and I stepped into Alura and I actually giggled with pleasure. The blue-and-white Mediterranean decor with home-like charm, stone walls, sparkling white furniture, comfy bed, large windows with a private little patio, plenty of sunshine streaming through the gauzy white drapes... sigh.

Air-conditioning, lush towels, L'Occitane products were the amenities that rounded out the details of our stay.

But the best parts were our...

...wonderful conversations with the owner, Ipek, a well-traveled, fun-loving, corporate escapee who has created a delicious little haven in Alacati
... pool-side tea-time treats
... and a relaxing Turkish-style brunch, served beautifully, with eggs made to order (included in the room rate)

I believe there was free internet, but to be honest I don't know for sure, because being online was the last thing on my mind right then. I'd banished my laptop to the (brand new) closet.

Alura's location is ideal if you are looking to stay in Alacati, a charming small Turkish village near Cesme with great dining, a trendy and yet traditional feel, cobble-stone streets, and local flair. It's located right behind the main street, just far enough from the nightlife noise and yet close enough to even wear high heels as you negotiate the cobble-stones.

Our 1-night stay left me as relaxed and renewed as I would normally feel with 3-4 days of vacation.

I can't recommend Alura highly enough. We (my husband and I) fully intend to return as soon as possible.

Alura is a wonderful and welcoming place, very quiet and near the centre of Alaçatı.
Ipek, the owner, was so kind and friendly, and gave us a lot of informations and advices.
We liked very much Alura's breakfast, with handmade jams, delicious borek cigars, ricotta with mulberry jam, and the best tea we had drunk in Turkey!
