“Just right”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2007

Wanted an overnight stopover between Glasgow and Brighton, without having to deviate too far off course, and this was just right.

2 mins off the M6 (J29), easy to find, good location, comfy rooms and quiet! Evening meal in the Walton Fox adjacent to hotel very good, if slightly more expensive than expected for 'Oop North'.

Friendly staff, well lit parking, would definately come again...

Preimer Travel Inn opposite if fully booked, although felt standard of accomodation was better in Holiday Inn.

Easy to find, just off the motorway, the hotel ‘did exactly what it said on the tin’. For just over £50 my wife and I were provided with a clean comfortable room and a simple breakfast.

On arriving staff were efficient to the point of disinterest, but this did not detract from a well-run hotel with excellent and simple low cost accommodation.

For dinner, one has to walk across the car park to a pub.

stayed here from the 11th-14th of december.hotel looks to be fairly new.car park has good security cctv cameras every where.main reception area nice and welcoming.rooms are very nicely decorated.and have a great shower in the bathroom.staff are extremely friendly and were very child friendly to my 3 year old daughter.next door to the hotel is a pub called the walton fox.next door the other side is a burger king and opposite is another pub called the poachers(ate food there, 2 for 1 deal all day.food highly recommended)and next door to this pub a sainsburys and petrol station.motorway M56 runs behind the hotel.this can be heard.but earplugs work wonders.breakfast is included in the price of the room.eat as much as you like and they will let you take it back to your room.the hotel is less than 30 minutes away from the reebok stadium bolton.10 minutes from preston town center and 40 minutes from the trafford center.and 30 minutes from blackpool.in all a great stay and will be back.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express whilst visiting Blackpool for the Bank Holiday weekend. The hotel is very easy to find just off the motorway, with lots of food places around, a good Pub, Burgerking and Sainsbury's supermarket and petrol - great for filling up on way back home!. I found the hotel to be ok, the staff are very nice and friendly, the food is very good and you can take a tray of breakfast food back to your hotel room and can eat as much as you want.
However the beds are a bit hard and we could have done with a better mattress, the sofabed was very lumpy and uncomfortable.
But on the plus side the shower is fantastic it has various settings and large enough to fit two people!

If you are on a budget overall it is good value for money and we would stay at the hotel again. It is family friendly too and they are willing to heat any baby food in the hotel microwave.

Stayed in this hotel September 2005 for 2 nights with my daughter. On returning to hotel second night found some personal belongings (Make-up) no longer in the room. Hotel staff/Manager not at all helpful then or later - promised to look into matter and get back to me. (It was treated as a bit of a joke but I felt very shaken and nervous that someone had been through my personal belongings)
After many phonecalls and lots of e-mails over a period of 5 months got postal order to replace items and an offer to stay in Preston hotel again.
I have no intention of ever staying in that hotel again and would warn others to be very careful what you leave in your room - even very personal items which you would think nobody else would even think of taking.

Have stayed several times at this Express and have found the staff friendly and helpful.
The rooms are clean with very comfortable bed and have great walk-in power showers (great if disabled like myself).
There is a good choice regarding the free continental breakfast with trays supplied so that breakfast can be taken back to your room.
"The Walton Fox" pub next-door is very pleasant in the summer months with plenty of tables and chairs outside. It is also very cosy on winter evenings and there is a good choice of food on the menu (but perhaps a little too much of cheese with some items)and they do serve some very good wines.
It is close to the M6 and is a great place to stay if you need a stopover when travelling to Scotland.
