“Ok room. Still no improvement on the breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2014 via mobile

On a positive note, all staff I had contact with were pleasant and professional although it was disappointing that only one person was covering the bar and the reception when I was there leading to delays in both areas. The room was ok but suffered from noise from the nearby roads and motorway. The breakfast was very poor both in quality and choice of ingredients.

Dear Mikeo111,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I appreciate the kind remarks on our hotel staff. Our aim is to provide all of our guests a unique stay and great customer service. However, I apologize for the issues you encountered with the noise and if you found the breakfast selections less than satisfactory. I appreciate your feedback and allowing us the opportunity to address these issues with the respective department.

Again, thank you for bringing this to our attention and we hope to have another opportunity to demonstrate to you our standards for exemplary service and quality accommodations.

Sincerely,

Stayed one evening after Christmas as a stop-over on the drive home to Glasgow. being minutes from the M6 it is very well placed for an over-night stay to break a journey.

There is nothing I could complain about with this stay.

The hotel was immaculate. Reception, public areas and rooms all fresh and clean. Room a very decent size, well appointed, good bathroom.

Staff very friendly and very welcoming and for the money I paid, in every respect this represented outstanding value.

We stayed here on New Years Eve, we where so impressed by all the modern furniture carpets and decor. We stayed in room 017' Lovely modern shower clean and of a good standard throughout the whole of the room. Staff are so helpful and friendly even at breakfast. Good choice of cererals the best coffee to could get your hands on. The bed pillowa and duvets where lovely and we had a great nights sleep nobody screaming and shouting even though it was New Years Eve. we didnt hear a pin drop. Its five minutes in the car to the nearest pub or resturant. But on the plus side the bar prices where the same as the pubs down the road five mins away. And as my husband says a great full bodied pint not flat like some hotel ales.

Room Tip: 017 couldnt hear any traffic even though its not far from the Motorway M65

Stayed on two occasions over Christmas & the new year for events in Blackpool.

Very large car park with big spaces. Hotel very modern from the outside, reception area large & very homely, fresh & clean. Staff delightful & customer service first class, made to feel very welcome as soon as you walked in. Check in process very quick & efficient, directed to our room on the ground floor. Corridors very tastefully decorated. Our large room at the rear of the hotel was very comfortable - nice TV, very thick curtains which helped create a real sense of comfort & plushness & a soft, comfortable bed was just perfect. Bathroom spacious with a large walk in shower & plenty of hot water.

Express Start breakfast very nice & included in the price of the stay. Yes, the cooked options are limited to sausages, beans & scrambled eggs but there was plenty of everything else. Very efficient service at breakfast, the hot food was constantly refreshed by the very efficient chef who seemed to really enjoy his job. Tables were kept clear very efficiently by the reception staff.

Late check out available to IHG Club members, we asked Scott for it on our return from New years eve, he sorted this very quickly for us & even took the trouble to ring our room to tell us it had been sorted out.

Thank you to all the staff for being so welcoming. Would definitely recommend & will return.

My boyfriend and I arrived not long after 2pm. Reception were quick and we were checked into our room in no time.
The room is spacious and modern looking. The bathroom is big and the shower is very roomy for this type of budget hotel. We were impressed.
Tea/Coffee facilities were provided along with shampoo/shower gel.
We borrowed an iron and ironing board from reception.
Reception booked us a taxi to take us to our location for the evening. It arrived within 5 minutes.
Although the hotel is located near a busy motorway this did not disturb our nights sleep. We didn't hear anyone from other rooms either.
The free breakfast was an added bonus. You can choose from cereal and breakfast pastries or toast to a mini cooked breakfast. We had the lot. The self service bar was more than adequate; the food was hot and fresh. The seating area was well attended and kept clean.
Check out was just as quick as check in.
The hotel looked recently decorated and was clean. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Free car parking and wi-fi are available.
All in all this was a pleasant stay and I would book this hotel again.

The location of this hotel is excellent, the reception is excellent, the staff are excellent, the decor is excellent, the bar was excellent, the restaurant for breakfast was just what was required, the rooms were excellent, the bathrooms were excellent the mattress in room 127, however, was VERY CHEAP AND NASTY. IT WAS SO POOR I spend most of the night trying to stop falling into the centre.

With the two of us in the bed the mattress can best be described as a bowl with the centre being the bottom of the bowl. Apart from the bed in a hotel in the centre of Gloucester City that we had the misfortune to book one winter for a night many years ago when we were able to count all the springs, this is the worst mattress I have had the misfortune to encounter.

I try to be vary fair in my reports and not exaggerate and you might think I am being a little unfair in my criticism of this Holiday Inn Express. Well I am not. I have not only stayed in many Holiday Inn and HI Express Hotels, but I am also a Priority Club holder and have commented favourably on other hotels in this chain.

I feel desperately sorry for the staff who are delightful. But there is no sense in lying about the mattress in room 127. It was cheap and nasty and what are hotels there for but to provide you with a bed that will allow the customer, yes that is what I am a customer, a good nights sleep.

The celebrity advertising a rival hotel says as he falls back onto one of their beds about having a good nights sleep. Well if he fell back onto the bed we had he could have done himself serious harm.

How sad that such a fantastic hotel is let down by some higher manager insisting on cheapening the hotel by buying substandard mattresses.

I would love to stay at this hotel again, but not to sleep on that mattress or any other like it.

Please take note those who buy mattresses for this hotel. Why buy cheap saggy mattresses for this hotel when all the other HI's and HIE's we have stayed in have mattresses that have are so very much better?

To the hotel staff I just want to say a very big thank you for being so friendly and welcoming, you are great, it is just a pity your managers are letting you down. I am sorry to have to say that this is the most critical review I have carried out so far on Trip Advisor.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a firm mattress, and ensure it is very much better than the norm at this hotel.
